SuperMac Embraces ColorSync
SuperMatch 2.1 Calibrator and PhotoSpeed Now ColorSync Compatible

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (Jan. 6, 1993)--SuperMac Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:
SMAC) today announced that its new SuperMatch 2.1 Color Calibrator and
PhotoSpeed starter system for Kodak's Photo CD are compatible with Apple
Computer, Inc.'s ColorSync color management system. In addition, SuperMac
intends to make all its displays and printers ColorSync compatible.

"Apple is the first manufacturer to integrate a color management system
into the operating system. SuperMac is excited about the opportunities
that will arise now that ColorSync is here, and is actively developing
ColorSync profiles for all our SuperMatch displays and ProofPositive
printers," said John Taylor, prepress product manager at SuperMac.

PhotoSpeed and ColorSync

SuperMac's new PhotoSpeed starter kit for Photo CD will include Apple's
ColorSync software, as well as ColorSync display profiles for SuperMac's
full line of SuperMatch displays. PhotoSpeed provides a complete
"out-of-the-box" solution including high-performance graphics and
photo-retouching hardware, along with leading software applications for
image access, manipulation, and retrieval. Plus it comes with the
industry's fastest CD-ROM players with full multi-session Photo CD
capability at an entry price of less than $3,000. ColorSync will allow
Photo CD images to retain their correct color throughout the production
process.

"Photo CD is a new way of working with color images that demands
consistency throughout the process. Now with Apple's ColorSync color
management system, PhotoSpeed truly delivers everything you need for Photo
CD productivity," Taylor said.

SuperMatch 2.1 Calibration With ColorSync

Display calibration is essential for professional graphic design work. A
predictable environment for color work is one of the most important
considerations facing any graphic artist. Now that the SuperMatch color
calibrator is ColorSync compatible, it will create a ColorSync profile for
any SuperMac, Apple, Radius, RasterOps, and Sony Macintosh display using
the ColorSync API. Users can then be assured that the colors of the image
they see on their display will coincide with the colors they print on
their printer.

"Color management is the responsibility of all vendors," Taylor said. "From
system and application software to displays, scanners, printers, and
imagesetters --all pieces in the graphic design process need to be
calibrated and compatible with a color management system. SuperMac has
long supported industry standards for color matching and now we have made
SuperMatch 2.1 ColorSync compatible."

Using an electronic sensor that attaches to the display, the SuperMatch
calibrator automatically corrects color drift and ensures that multiple
displays look similar. This means color work stays consistent from start
to finish.

SuperMac designs products that accelerate and enhance the performance of
both Macintosh and Windows-based computer systems. The company is a
