SPECTRUM'S NEW C31 REAL TIME APPLICATIONS BOARD PROVIDES ADVANCED COST
EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS FOR EMBEDDED MARKET

Vancouver, B.C., January 11, 1993 -- Spectrum Signal Processing Inc. today
introduced the TMS320C31 Real Time Applications Board. Similar to the
popular C30 System and Processor boards, the C31 applications board is
specifically designed to meet the performance, reliability, and cost
requirements of embedded applications.

The C31 applications board features a 40 MHz Texas Instruments TMS320C31
Digital Signal Processor (DSP), up to 640K words of SRAM (with an option
for EPROM), a high performance dual port memory ISA interface, and a
flexible modular approach to analog interfacing.

The new applications board is supported by a comprehensive suite of
development tools which include assembler, linker, C compiler, and a C
source level symbolic debugger. The applications board is priced at $2,495
in single unit quantities, with discounts available for volume OEM
applications. The C31 board is available now.

"The Real Time Applications Board is available to OEM customers as the most
cost-effective DSP plug-in board solution on the market", said Ross
Mitchell, Spectrum Business Development Manager. "These prices reflect our
commmitment to bringing a scaleable design and flexible pricing to
customers with demanding application needs." The TMS320C31 is a low-cost
alternative to Texas Instruments' C30 and is code-compatible with it,
according to Mitchell.

The memory options for the C31 Real Time Applications Board reflect the
wide variety of signal processing applications for the board. Main memory
is configured into 32K x 32 with add-on expansion capability up to 64OK x
32 thereby allowing the board to be tailored to the OEM embedded
application with no excess capacity.

Other features include:

* Two daughter module sites and various analog and AES/EBU
  daughter card I/O options
* High bandwidth DSP-LINK2 expansion bus for off-board I/O
via Spectrum's wide range of peripheral cards
* Up to 64OK words of SRAM, with an option of up to 512K words
  of EPROM
* Embedded/stand-alone capability using boot EPROM Real time
  code development support
* High speed dual port RAM for interface onto ISA bus
