NEW DAUGHTER MODULE FROM SPECTRUM PROVIDES DIGITAL AUDIO INTERFACE; CAN
PROVIDE ANY PC, VME OR SBUS SPECTRUM PLATFORM WITH STUDIO QUALITY I/O

Burnaby, British Columbia, January 11, 1993 -- Spectrum Signal Processing
today introduced a new daughter module designed to provide a high quality
digital audio interface for the company's PC bus, VMEbus, and SBus
motherboards in audio and speech applications.

The new AES/EBU Daughter Module allows the Spectrum DSP boards to exchange
digital audio or non-audio data with any equipment that supports either
the ANSI 4.40 AES/EBU professional (balanced) digital audio data format or
the consumer standard SP DIF (unbalanced) data format. The daughter module
is the latest in a growing family of modules from Spectrum.

A complete DSP system consisting of a Spectrum motherboard and module can
be used as a powerful platform for developing and implementing any signal
processing applications which require digital audio interfaces. Even with
the module attached, the complete system conforms to the single slot
requirements for all bus standards. The combination of Spectrum's high
quality 50 kHz Analog Daughter Module and the new AES/EBU module will
provide any Spectrum DSP platform with a studio quality digital I/O
subsystem.

"The AES/EBU Daughter Module adds flexibility to customer designs that
integrate DSP and digital audio peripherals," said Ross Mitchell, Spectrum
Business Development Manager. "This new modular approach allows our
customers to combine DSP and I/O to meet their specific system
requirements with minimum overhead".

Other features include:

* 16 and 24 bit digital audio data modes with support of
  Channel Status/Parity/Validity/User Data Bits
* Receiver extracts sampling rates from serial bitstream
  within the range 30 - 54 kHz.
* Optional fiber optic interface connector

The AES/EBU Daughter Module is priced at $995.00 USD in single quantities
and is available now. OEM discounts are available to customers purchasing
large quantities.
