A GLOSSARY THAT'S ALL THINGS TO ALL PEOPLE

AMACOM PUBLISHES THE SIXTH EDITION OF THE COMPUTER GLOSSARY

When it comes to computer references, there are dictionaries, lexicons,
glossaries, and quick look-ups, but perhaps none is so interesting to so
many as Alan Freedman's THE COMPUTER GLOSSARY (AMACOM Books, January 5,
1993, 688 pages, 7x10", Hardcover--$36.95; Paperback--$24.95; Paperback
and Disk package--$39.95). Compuserve calls it "the kind of book that you
could pick up and actually start reading from cover to cover."

Now in it's Sixth Edition, THE COMPUTER GLOSSARY features 700 new terms for
a total of 5,000 entries, along with 400 illustrations and photos, a
complete guide to all DOS commands, and the entire glossary on disk.
Originally created by Freedman to be a definitive guide for both the
professional and the lost-in-the-lingo novice, THE COMPUTER GLOSSARY has
far exceeded his expectations of universality. Praise from different
reviewers and users demonstrate this:

THE COMPUTER GLOSSARY, SIXTH Edition, provides just about everything
anybody could need to know about computers, including: terminology for
PCs, Macs, minicomputers, and mainframes; computer science concepts;
proprietary computer concepts that help explain vendor terminology;
reference charts for codes and specs; and background information on
important people. companies, and technology breakthroughs. The glossary is
completely cross-referenced and designed in an easy-to-read format with
large, bold type, and many illustrations.

William R Hewlett, Director Emeritus of Hewlett-Packard calls it: "not just
a glossary, but a complete guide to computer literacy . . . an invaluable
tool for novices and experienced computer users alike."

Alan Freedman is the president of the Computer Language Company, an
organization devoted to computer education and training for business and
non-technical people. In his thirty years in the field, Freedman has
worked for a variety of companies as a programmer, a systems analyst, a
systems engineer, and a salesperson. He's written extensively and taught
over 10,000 executives, managers, and professionals.
