TECHNOLOGY SHARING AGREEMENT PROMISES ADVANCED CLIENT/SERVER PERFORMANCE
FOR dBASE COMPATIBLE APPLICATIONS

Boise, ID, October 9, 1992 -- Extended Systems and SuccessWare90 Inc.
announced today a joint technology-sharing agreement. This agreement paves
the way for a marriage of Extended Systems' Novell client/server expertise
and SuccessWare's developments with Replaceable Database Drivers (RDD).
Advances created by the marriage of this expertise will significantly
improve the performance of Xbase databases running on Novell servers.

Extended Systems has designed and successfully marketed a number of
advanced NetWare Loadable Modules. The most recent, ExtendBase, is a
client/server solution that makes indexing, reporting and querying
functions on existing Xbase databases run up to 15 times faster.
Traditional database applications send all the data across the network to
be processed on the workstation. Through client/server technology, data is
processed quickly in a NetWare Loadable Module running on the file server
where the data is stored. The result is users get their data faster,
indexes are built faster and overall network traffic is reduced.

SuccessWare is the developer of the SIx Driver, a revolutionary Replaceable
Database Driver (RDD) for Clipper developers. The SIx Driver brings the
sophisticated FoxPro indexing schemes to the powerful Clipper application
development environment. SuccessWare's SIx Driver index files are fully
compatible with FoxPro 2, including maintainable, CONDITIONAL indexes and
COMPOUND indexes that hold up to 99 indexes in a single file.

The SIx Driver technology compresses the often sizable index files used by
Clipper applications. Compression can be as high as 90%, saving disk space
and improving application performance.

In related news, Extended Systems has announced that they now hold an
equity position in SuccessWare90.

Since 1984, Extended Systems has been dedicated to developing database
products which extend the functionality and capabilities of our customers'
existing database resources. Extended Systems database products are known
for their high-performance, reliability and ease of use.
