Trantor Systems Introduces MiniSCSI EPP

Ultra-High-Performance Parallel-to-SCSI Host Adapter Allows Enhanced
Parallel Ports to Run CD-ROMs and Other SCSI Devices at Bus Speeds

COMDEX Fall'92, Las Vegas, NV -- November 16, 1992 -- Trantor Systems today
announced its new enhanced parallel-to-SCSI adapter, the model T358
MiniSCSI EPP. On display in the South Annex (formerly West Hall), Booth
#7022, the product provides simple, quick and inexpensive connection of
many different types of SCSI devices through a computer's Enhanced
Parallel Port (EPP) without losing use of the printer.

The EPP technology was developed by Intel and a consortium of computer and
peripheral manufacturers (including Trantor Systems) to emulate the
traditional ISA expansion bus through the parallel port, providing
comparable performance. The MiniSCSI EPP allows data transfer rates of up
to 1 MB/sec, similar to a conventional 8-bit SCSI adapter.

The MiniSCSI EPP is compatible with EPP-compliant parallel ports as well as
with conventional unidirectional and bidirectional ports. Parallel printer
signals pass through with no performance degradation. There is no need to
specify whether an EPP device is being connected, since transmission rates
are automatically adjusted.

The MiniSCSI EPP, like all Trantor products shipped since December 1992,
comes complete with Trantor's new ASPI-compatible software bundle,
SCSIworks!. With SCSIworks!, full support is provided for SCSI hard
drives, CD-ROMs, magneto-optical drives. removable-cartridge drives. SCSI
floppies and Tape Mate II tape backup. Trantor's Music Box audio control
software for CD-ROMs is also included with SCSIworks!

The MiniSCSI EPP has a suggested retail price of US$269.00 and is scheduled
to begin shipping in December.

Trantor has been successfully selling the original MiniSCSI product for
over two years. The MiniSCSI Plus was introduced in June 1992 and offers
enhanced performance, an integral 3-foot cable and built-in SCSI
termination. The MiniSCSI EPP external design is identical to the MiniSCSI
Plus. The MiniSCSI product line is particularly attractive for notebooks
and laptops which lack slots for a conventional SCSI interface board.

Trantor is the premier supplier of SCSI interface products for the CD-ROM
industry and is a leader in the all-purpose SCSI interface market,
supplying hardware and software products to the IBM-compatible,
laptop/notebook and Apple Macintosh markets. Founded in 1982, Trantor's
products are sold through distributors and dealers internationally under a
variety of private labels as well as the Trantor brand name. The company
is located in Fremont, California (Silicon Valley).
