(Fort Lee, NJ, Oct. 5) -- UNIX EXPO set standards as the premier event for
UNIX and Open Systems computing. The ninth annual trade show and
conference took place Sept. 22-24, at the Jacob K. Javits Convention
Center with the largest event ever.

UNIX EXPO show officials announced that 310 exhibitors showcased their
products and services for UNIX and Open Systems to 28,722 attendees,
primarily corporate buyers on a show floor that covered 118,000 net sq.
ft., of exhibit space at the Javits Center.

Show management also announced the 1993 dates for the show and conference.
The Tenth Annual UNIX EXPO trade show will return to the Javits Convention
Center, Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 21- 23, 1993.

Scores of important announcements of new products and alliances affirmed
the importance of UNIX EXPO to the industry. Exhibitors making
announcements included: Computer Associates, Digital Equipment
Corporation, FourGen Software, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Ingres, Island
Graphics, Motorola Computer Group, Neal Nelson & Associates, Non-Standard
Logics, Open Software Foundation (OSF), SAS Institute, SCO, Tadpole
Technologies, Visix, and Xerox/XSoft.

James A. Cannavino, vice president and general manager of personal systems
at IBM Corporation, delivered the UNIX EXPO keynote on Tuesday. Mr.
Cannavino outlined his vision of "The Expanding Universe of UNIX," in his
address, describing the growth of UNIX as a viable platform for technical
and commercial computing.

Don Berey, show manager for UNIX EXPO, said conference registration
increased significantly for this year's event. The UNIX EXPO conference
program consisted of 56 seminars, 15 tutorials, and two special plenary
addresses.

In the first plenary, John Black, system architect of the U.S. West New
Vector Group, discussed "Integrating UNIX into the Glass House." The chief
executives of the two UNIX camps, David Tory of OSF and Roel Pieper of
UNIX System Laboratories fielded questions on UNIX issues from two
journalists in a session entitled, "UNIX: The New World Order."

UNIX EXPO was produced by Bruno Blenheim Inc. (BBI), a trade show
