Data Conversion Utility Now Available for S-PLUS

SEATTLE, Washington--October l, 1992--Statistical Sciences, Inc. (StatSci)
today announced they have reached an agreement with Tools & Techniques,
Inc. of Austin, Texas, to resell their data conversion software product,
Data Junction. Currently the number one package in its category, Data
Junction provides a logical pathway for data analysts and statisticians to
move their often complex data sets between S-PLUS and many other commonly
used data formats and popular software applications. These include ASCII,
EBCDIC, various binaries, and IEEE Floating Point; different database
formats such as Oracle, Informix, and dBase; as well as software
applications including Excel (spreadsheets), SPSS, and SAS.

The Data Junction "hub and spoke" design lets users filter, edit, and
convert scores of data files with ease. Each spoke is engineered to read
and write a specific data format into and out of the hub. Via the central
hub any file format can be converted to any other format through the
spokes.

Once a data file has been brought into Data Junction, it can be manipulated
and massaged with filter options to select specific data or change its
layout. The user can also perform search/replace, case translations, and
parsing on the data within a file. It is very helpful for "cleaning up"
any structured data file.

Menu-driven, Data Junction is very easy to use. It also provides the
capability to automate repetitive data conversion and translation tasks.

StatSci--Statistical Sciences, Inc. was founded in 1987 to market and
support an enhanced and extended version of AT&T's S statistical language,
as well as other data analysis and manipulation tools. StatSci also
performs consulting, training, and contract research on next generation
interactive statistical computing environments.
