Norsehelm Productions Inc. announces its newest release for the IBM PC,
RAGNAROK.

RAGNAROK is a role-playing game based on the mythology of the Vikings. A
single character must become the great hero of the Norsemen and attempt to
alter the Prophesied destruction of the universe. His travels will take
him from the home of mankind, Midgard, through the lands of the dwarfs and
giants, Nidavellir and Jotenheim respectively, into the land of the dead,
Niflheim, and beyond to the home of the Norse gods, Asgard. Along the way
the hero must complete as many of the six major quests as possible in
order to ensure the safety of the world. Time is of the essence; the evil
forces of the universe will not wait and warning signs may urge the hero
to hasten along. Wherever possible, the programmers adhered to story lines
of the Norse myths so that both those who know nothing about them and
those who have studied the myths carefully will be able to follow along.

There are six character apprenticeships for the player to choose from:
viking, woodsman, conjurer, sage, alchemist, and blacksmith. Each class
has individual abilities which the other classes lack. The viking is the
physically strongest, healthiest character and is the best in battle. The
woodsman is adept with bow weapons and gradually learns the art of the
fletcher, gains the ability to tame lesser creatures, and learns to
terraform. The conjurer is the only spellcaster among the apprentices and
also learns to teleport at will sooner than the others. The sage is
bestowed with the powerful knowledge of writing runes and may create
scrolls which are unavailable to the other classes. The alchemist quickly
gains the ability to combine potions into new concoctions, including the
rarest elixir of all, the potion of second life. The blacksmith quickly
learns to smelt down metal objects and form them into more powerful
weapons and armor. The hero may change classes upon reaching the level of
mastery in any given class.

There are over two hundred classes of items, and there is virtually no
limit to the number of items representative of each class that may be
found. Many of the items interact together to create new items or items of
greater power. In addition to the six major quests facing the hero, there
are four minor quests involving the recovery of lost artifacts which will
aid the hero to complete his overall goal.

There are over one hundred and fifty races of creatures which will attempt
to aid or slay the hero in his quests. The hero may polymorph or transform
himself into nearly any of these races. He will then gain all inherent
traits of that race including special attacks, special defenses, and
speed.

Over one hundred realms await exploration by the hero. Breathtaking
graphics representing each realm or plane are displayed the first time the
hero stumbles upon them (see the right-hand screen shot on the enclosed
flier for a pictorial reference). The main playing screen of the game
consists of five sections. The first is an overhead view involving the
entire map of the realm which the hero is currently exploring. The second
is an overhead close of view of hero and his surroundings. The third is a
status area which lists the hero's hit points, strength, magic points,
stomach level, experience level, constitution, luck, armor class, and
wealth. The fourth area consists of mouse command buttons. The fifth aud
smallest area is reserved for the written messages describing the actions
currently taking place. For a pictorial reference of the main playing
screen see the middle screen shot on the enclosed flier. Two other full
screens round out the interaction. The map of the universe (see left hand
screen shot on enclosed flier) shows the realm the hero is currently
exploring in relation to the other realms. The character diagnostic screen
lists the hero's name, race, sex, speed, physical characteristics, class
levels, skills, powers, abilities, and resistances.

RAGNAROK is a 16-color, 640 x 480 VGA game for IBM PCs and compatibles.
RAGNAROK takes 640K to play and requires a hard disk with 5.5 free
megabytes. RAGNAROK provides excitement for both advanced game-players and
beginners with its infinite variability, ease of play with either keyboard
or Microsoft compatible mouse, two levels of difficulty, and extensive
on-line help menus. The interface is extremely easy to use and the
programmers concentrated on keeping the player interested in continued
play. We at Norsehelm believe that RAGNAROK will hold the player's
attention span significantly longer than most other FRP computer games.
Combat in the world of RAGNAROK is designed for ease of play, played out
in turns rather than real time. The list price for RAGNAROK is $59.95.
There is also a RAGNAROK Strategy Guide currently available (SRP $15.00).
RAGNAROK was four years in the making and has been meticulously
beta-tested for over a year.

Initial response to RAGNAROK has been excellent and reviews and strategy
tip articles will appear in the September and October issues of Computer
Game Review and CD-ROM Entertainment and the October issue of Strategy
Plus magazines. Strategy Plus had this to say about RAGNAROK: "Fans of
role-playing games can rejoice in the discovery of something lovingly
crafted here...", "... a rather addictive experience.", "...RAGNAROK is
truly unique as a CRPG [computer role-playing game]...", and "... a
genre-defining game." Additional articles should soon follow in the other
major computer game publications, including the October and November
issues of Computer Gaming World.

At the time of this writing, RAGNAROK is available through the following
mail-order houses: Viking Software (1-800-852-6187), Disk-Count Software
(1-800-448-6658), and Chips and Bits (1-800 753-GAME). In addition,
RAGNAROK may be available at retailers in your area. Ask the smaller
retailers if they carry it, as RAGNAROK is currently being distributed
nationwide and internationally by a company that supplies mostly to
independent stores. Norsehelm has just finished negotiations with one of
the main distributors for such major retail chains as CompUSA, Software
Etc., and Electronic Boutique and we expect RAGNAROK to make its way onto
shelves of their stores very soon.

If you have any further questions, are still having trouble locating a
retailer near you, or wish to order through us, please call 1-800 892-3488
and ask for Robert Vawter or Thomas Boyd.
