NSSI INTRODUCES INTELLIGENT UPSs FOR WORKSTATIONs, PCs

New Models Complement NSSI s Power Back-up Strategy for Distributed
Networks

SPECIAL TO NETWORLD, Oct. 13, 1992 - Network Security Systems, Inc., (NSSI)
today introduced new workstation-based Intelligent Power Systems, the
IPS/A.I. 300 and IPS/A.I. 450 models, which round out the IPS/A I. system
product line for protecting and managing today's networks. As standalone
systems, the IPS/A I. 300 and 450 models provide affordable power
protection to critical workstations, database servers and bridges.

With the addition of LanSafe II software, network administrators can
centrally manage, monitor, analyze and control the local and wide area
power conditions that affect the network, reducing the risk of an
unplanned shutdown. Unlike existing systems that only monitor
uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) on servers, LanSafe II provides
interactive management and control of power management devices on all key
network components, including database and communications servers,
bridges, critical workstations and file servers.

"Intelligent hardware and software working together is an element that is
required in distributed network environments," says Bill Humphreys,
president of NSSI. "NSSI will continually provide network systems
solutions for today's distributed processing networks."

The Intelligent Power System product line includes an intelligent display
panel with three-color lights showing green, yellow or red to
automatically flag varying conditions of line voltage, load, battery and
system test. The hardware's microprocessor-based circuitry permits local
and remote system settings, collection and analysis of power data and
two-way 9600 baud communications via a RS-232 port.

The IPS/A.I. 300 (210 watts), priced at $399, and the IPS/A.I. 450 (315
watts), priced at $549, are available now. These new models join the IPS/A
I. 600 (480 watts) priced at $699, the IPS/A.I. 800 (640 watts) priced at
$899 and the IPS/A.I. 1200 (960 watts) priced at $1299, which protect
servers and communication devices. LanSafe II software for Novell networks
is available for $135. The entire IPS/A.I. product line is warrantied for
two full years with up to five years available.

NSSI's commitment to total customer satisfaction includes a 100 percent
customer satisfaction 90-day product guarantee, express delivery service
and express repair service.
