JAMES ENGINEERING INTRODUCES MacVGA
HELPS POWERBOOK 160 & 180 DISPLAY ON LOW COST COLOR VGA MONITORS

EL CERRITO, CA --- OCTOBER 19,1992 ---James Engineering is pleased to
announce MacVGA for Apple Computer, Inc.'s new Macintosh PowerBook 160 and
180 computers. MacVGA for the PowerBook 160 and 180 is designed to
increase "portable productivity" by providing low cost color VGA
connectivity to hundreds of VGA monitors and VGA compatible presentation
display products such as video overlay projection panels and CRT
projectors.

PowerBook 160 and 180 - video output

A significant difference from the PowerBook 160 and 180 notebook
predecessors is the addition of a video output port. Supporting all Apple
monitors, the PowerBook 160 and 180 on-board video circuitry can also
support VGA monitors with the addition of a specially designed low cost
adapter, the MacVGA.

With an estimated installed base of tens of millions of VGA monitors used
with Intel based personal computer systems; new PowerBook users can now
have access to larger display devices in more locations without the need
to carry a separate monitors.

MacVGA - the video adapter for VGA monitors

"With the demand for desktop presentations and users needing a desktop
display solution, the new PowerBooks are ideal." said Beverly James,
co-founder and President of James Engineering. "With our MacVGA video
adapter, we offer an easy low cost way for bringing color to the 160 and
180 user."

With its compact size (1.8" x 1.7" x .6") and weighing less than an ounce,
the MacVGA is designed for mobile as well as desktop usage. The MacVGA
plugs directly into the auxiliary video cable of the 160 and 180 to accept
a standard VGA monitor cable. The MacVGA has a suggested retail price of
$25.00.

The MacVGA joins the family of VGA monitor adapters from James Engineering
for the Macintosh LC, LC II, Macintosh Performa 200, PowerBook Duo
(DeskBar and docking station), and Macintosh Quadra computers.

All products are available immediately through dealers or by ordering
