Laptop Liberator version 2.0 Utility Connects Macintosh PowerBooks to
Desktop Macintosh Computers and PCs.

Bothell, WA, October 19, 1992 .... Software Architects, Inc. introduced
Laptop Liberator version 2.0, a new PowerBook accessory that connects
Apple Macintosh PowerBook computers to desktop Macintosh Computers and
PCs.

For Macintosh users, Laptop Liberator provides a fast, safe and convenient
way to move files directly from the PowerBook to another Macintosh and
back. When the PowerBook Duo is connected to another Macintosh, its drive
appears as a hard disk on the other Macintosh desktop. For PC users
running DOS, Laptop Liberator provides a simple, easy-to-use solution for
transferring files from a PC to a PowerBook and back. The PowerBook is
connected to the PC via the SCSI port, and the PowerBook DOS volume
appears as an external hard disk drive.

Using Laptop Liberator, PowerBook users trade files with desktop Macintosh
Computers and most DOS compatible PCs with SCSI ports by connecting the
computers with the Software Architects PowerBridge module and a standard
SCSI cable. Files are transferred directly to and from the PowerBook's
internal hard drive through the SCSI bus. Because files move through the
SCSI bus instead of a modem port or other intermediate link, Laptop
Liberator transports files more quickly, safely and easily than other file
transfer products.

Laptop Liberator creates both Macintosh and DOS partitions on the
PowerBook's internal hard drive, enabling users to access and change files
in either the Macintosh or DOS environment. DOS partitions on the
PowerBook's drive are mounted using Dayna's DOS Mounter (included with
Laptop Liberator). Files are transferred using standard Macintosh and DOS
commands.

Because DOS data is copied directly to the PowerBook's internal hard disk,
hardware requirements are minimized. Using a standard SCSI cable and the
Software Architects PowerBridge module, files are transferred to either
system without complex networking equipment.

Once the utility is used to prepare the PowerBook drive, the Laptop
Liberator software becomes invisible to the user. As a result, the
PowerBook is easily linked to PCs equipped with SCSI ports, and files of
any size are quickly uploaded or downloaded.

The software supports all Macintosh PowerBook 100, 140, 145, 160, 170 and
180 model laptops and most DOS or PS/2 computers with SCSI ports. The
software supports third party host adapter boards manufactured by:
Adaptec, AIC, Always Technology, DTC, Electronique d2, Future Domain,
Seagate, Trantor and Software Architects. The product will be available
October 19, 1992. List price is $249.

The software allows the user to perform the following functions with the
PowerBook computer: connect the PowerBook to Macintosh desktops via the
SCSI port, change the PowerBook's SCSI address with software controls;
transfer files back and forth; mount DOS partitions and files; transfer
Macintosh files to DOS computers and open DOS files using Apple File
Exchange or Apple PC Exchange.

The Liberator utility also works as a powerful set-up and partitioning
utility for the PowerBook's internal hard disk. The software allows the
user to perform the following functions on the PowerBook computer's
internal drive: create, name and size any number of Macintosh or DOS
partitions; format the drive; split old partitions or create new ones;
write-protect selected partitions; run three different types of media
tests for correctable and non-correctable errors; selectively re-allocate
defective sectors on the media; create, print & save test logs to track
media degradation.
