RxVECTORY FOR WINDOWS AUTOMATES RASTER-TO-VECTOR CONVERSION

Multiple editing features simplify document and image management

Atlanta (October 9, 1992) -- Expert Graphics has introduced RxVectory for
Windows, an add-on utility for the AutoCAD for Windows Extension that
provides automatic conversion of scanned images into AutoCAD vector format
via intelligent raster-to-vector conversion.

RxVectory for Windows recognizes lines, arcs, circles and ellipses from
scanned raster images stored in RLC, PCX, or TIFF formats and translates
those images into AutoCAD's DXB vector file format or DXF format, which
can be recognized by most computer-aided design programs. Most
importantly, complex objects are treated as single graphics entities, not
just as a series of small polylines, which greatly simplifies later
editing, and reduces the size significantly.

Other features of RxVectory for Windows, which operates with most popular
VGA boards, include special routines for processing tables and for
eliminating gaps and breaks in the raster image. Image filtration can be
used to simplify conversion to a recognized template (i.e., contour maps,
etc." while region masking excludes user-defined areas. Furthermore,
scanned images can be pixel edited, rotated and cleaned up before
conversion, and can also be displayed with different scales, line
thickness and rotation angle. Options include the ability to recognize
only the outline of large areas (i.e., logos). Users can also predefine
specific text data using standard AutoCAD fonts before vectorization.

The capabilities of the vectorization software allow engineering,
manufacturing, surveying and architectural firms to transfer hard copies
of maps, floor plans, P & ID drawings, schematics, mechanical assemblies,
etc. to a CAD format for ease of storage or retrieval or for modification
within AutoCAD or other popular CAD programs. For users with many drawings
to convert, a batch mode can be used to perform conversion overnight.

"RxVectory for Windows can save substantial time and money for firms moving
towards document management," said Darrell Knight, president of Expert
Graphics. "It takes full advantage of the Windows environment to simplify
editing and enhance ease-of-use."

Expert Graphics is best known for its RASTEREX series of high-resolution
graphics processors and drawing and conversion software for the CAD and
engineering markets. The release of RxVectory for Windows is a new
strategic direction for the Atlanta-based firm. The firm is now
emphasizing Windows-based document management software that can be used to
build intelligent company-wide informational databases that incorporate
images as well as text.

RxVectory for Windows requires a 386/486 computer with hard disk, mouse and
Microsoft Windows 3.1. It can operate with any VGA or other graphics
board. A 387 co-processor is recommended.

RxVectory for Windows retails for $1,995 and is available from RASTEREX
dealers nationwide. A DOS version is also available for $1,995. Contact
Expert Graphics for a demo diskette.
