Proxim Announces Additions to Wireless Networking Product Family

Portable Products and Roaming Capability Offer Exciting New Application
Opportunities

Mountain View, CA -- September 28, 1992 -- Proxim, Inc., a leading supplier
of wireless networking products, today announced two wireless LAN
adapters, RangeLAN/PCMCIA and RangeLAN/Parallel for portable and
Roaming-For-RangeLAN, a software product which provides a breakthrough
approach to handling roving computer users in a complex LAN environment.

"With this announcement, Proxim fulfills its commitment to provide a broad
family of affordable, easy to install wireless products with true
networking capability," said Rick Heller, CEO of Proxim. "It is our
intention to expand our LAN product line throughout 1993 to address the
wireless networking needs of our customers."

o RangeLAN/PCMCIA fits into a Type II "credit card" slot of notebook,
subnotebook, penbased or palmtop computers. The adapters obtain power from
the portable computer, and through the use of advanced power management,
have minimal impact on battery life.

o RangeLAN/Parallel provides RangeLAN wireless connectivity to any PC by
connecting to the parallel port.

o Roaming-For-RangeLAN is software available for use in RangeLAN adapters
designed for portable and laptop computers, which allows a user to move
seamlessly from one LAN server location to another without losing
connection to the LAN.

"The introduction of these two products rounds out Proxim's wireless
product family by providing RangeLAN capability on every major DOS
platform," said Paul Smith, Vice President of Marketing at Proxim. "These
products are designed for applications such as EMAIL, printer sharing,
modem sharing, terminal emulation, and file sharing."

The Roaming-For-RangeLAN roaming capability permits users of portable
computers equipped with wireless adapters to automatically transition
between wireless access points on a large network. An example of this type
of network would be a multi-storied building where coverage by a single
access point does not provide adequate coverage. Multiple points cooperate
to allow a user to move seamlessly throughout the area covered by multiple
servers. All of this is accomplished without the need for user
intervention. The network installation is made simple through the use of
software utilities provided by Proxim.

"Roaming under Novell NetWare 2.X and 3.11 is a significant breakthrough in
LAN technology, which dramatically increases the value of the portable
wireless solution. Many new applications have emerged as a result of
Proxim's two years of development of this capability," said Heller.
Application areas include the airline, health care, and manufacturing
industries.

All RangeLAN adapters for desktop and portable computers support the
popular LAN operating systems, including Novell's NetWare 2.2 and NetWare
3.11, and LANS such as MicroSoft's LAN Manager, offering both server-based
and peer-to-peer networking support.

The RangeLAN family of adapters uses Proxim's patented spread spectrum
radio frequency technology which offers high interference immunity with a
range up to 800 feet. All

RangeLAN adapters operate at a data rate of 242 Kbps and provide users with
three full channels that effectively triple the available bandwidth,
enabling users to have three independent wireless LANS in the same
physical space.

RangeLAN/PCMCIA and RangeLAN/Parallel will be available through dealers and
value added resellers in December, 1992. RangeLAN/PCMCIA and
RangeLAN/Parallel will retail for $595, and Roaming For RangeLAN software
will be available for $99 per node.

Headquartered in Mountain View, CA., Proxim, Inc. was founded in 1984 to
develop and market wireless communications products. The company entered
the LAN arena in early 1992 with the RangeLAN wireless adapter offerings.

The products described in this document cannot be offered for sale until
they receive approval by the FCC.
