SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA -- August 10,1992 -- XTree for Windows is now being
shipped, XTree Company announced today.

Introduced at PC Expo '92 in June, the new file and disk management utility
for the graphical environment carries a suggested U.S. retail price of
$99. Through October, a special introductory price of $49.95 (U.S.) is in
effect. Registered XTree users can keep their DOS license and pay only
$39.95 (U.S.). Shipping and handling charges are additional.

XTree for Windows is available through the reseller and distributor network
worldwide and direct from XTree Company in the U.S. and Canada by calling
1-800-395-8733.

The new Windows-based hard disk management utility offers over 50 file
viewers, drag and drop capabilities, zip file compression, auto-sizing
windows and point and shoot abilities for text entry in dialogues.

Included in XTree for Windows is XTreeLink, a seamless file transfer
feature allowing use of laptop drives from desktop PCs and vice versa
regardless of what application a user is in.

According to Bob Kimball, XTree Company vice President marketing, "this
important feature opens up file and disk management to users who rely
heavily on their portable and mobile PCs."

"XTree for Windows continues in the tradition of excellence that all of
XTree's products for DOS, UNIX and NetWare systems enjoy," he said.

XTree for Windows is based on a multiple document interface (MDI), so users
can open and arrange multiple windows to view as many directory trees,
file lists, ZIP archives and viewed documents as they wish -- at the same
time. All volumes, files, directories and archived volumes (zipped files)
are accessible at once. Like other XTree products, users can instantly
copy, delete, move, rename, and view files and directories with a single
keystroke or mouse click.

More than 50 file viewers allow users to quickly view databases such as
Paradox and dBASE, word processing documents such as Microsoft Word and
WordPerfect, spreadsheets such as Lotus 123 and Excel and graphics such as
PCX, TIF and GIF without loading or running that application. A special
AutoView window updates automatically as the user scrolls through a file
list. XTree for Windows supports the industry-standard ZIP format for
fast, compatible file compression and can easily create and extract files
from ZIP archives. Adding to or extracting from ZIP files is as simple as
dragging and dropping with a mouse or using the copy command. Users can
even view files that are compressed in ZIP archives without extracting
them.

XTree for Windows will run on any IBM AT, PS/l, PS/2 or 100% compatible
computer capable of running Microsoft Windows. Suggested minimum
configuration includes 2MB RAM, hard disk and Windows-compatible display
monitor. Mouse recommended but not required. PC or MS-DOS 3.3 or higher
required. Requires Windows 3.0 or higher (not included). XTree for Windows
does not operate in Window's 3.0 Real Mode. File transfer cable is not
included. Project Green

In 1990, XTree Company launched "Project Green" and became the first major
publisher to produce software products using recycled and/or
environmentally sensitive materials.

XTree for Windows continues the "everything except the floppy disk can be
recycled" practice. For every XTree for Windows purchased at regular price
and user registration card returned, the Company will plant a tree in
conjunction with the American Forestry Association's Global ReLeaf
program.

XTree Company also publishes XTreeGold 2.5, the industry standard in disk
management software for DOS based PCs; XTreeNet, the leading file and disk
manager for Novell network administrators; XTree for UNIX systems, the
file and disk manager for multi-user Intel-based UNIX applications;
AllSafe, ViruSafe and ViruSafe/LAN the most complete virus safety programs
available for IBM PCs, Novell and NetBIOS networks.
