KODAK ANNOUNCES WINDOWS OPTION FOR XL 7700/XLT 7720 DIGITAL PRINTERS

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Sept. 11--Kodak has announced a new Windows 3.x option for
high-speed output of scalable fonts, complex graphics, and bitmaps using
Kodak XL 7700 and XLT mo digital continuous tone printers.

The Zenographics SuperPrint kit for the XL-series printers includes a
high-speed printer driver for Windows 3.x, along with a small computer
systems interface (SCSI) card and cable.

The kit enables both stand-alone and networked printers to output
high-quality, scalable text "on the fly" using many varieties of industry
standard typefaces. It also provides fast imaging of complex graphics and
bitmaps, optional anti-aliasing to eliminate "jaggies," and batch,
background, and network printing.

Kodak also has released a Zenographics SuperPrint network driver, which
allows users on a network to access the new SuperPrint driver from a
server; and new Kodak TableMaker software for creating color correction
tables for the XL-series printers from either DOS or Windows 3.x.

The new products join an expanding list of Windows options for XL printer
users. Previously, the printers offered high speed direct printing from
within Aldus PhotoStyler, Image-In Color Professional, and Media
Cybernetics' Halo Desktop Imager. Visual Business Systems also markets a
PostScript raster image processor (RIP) for the XL 7700 and XLT 7720
printers.

The Zenographics add-ons supply flexible output capabilities to all Windows
applications. Other key features follow.

* Scalable text with a variety of typeface architectures, including Adobe
Type 1 PostScript page description language fonts, Bitstream Facelife and
Fontware fonts, Digital Typeface Corp. Nimbus Q fonts, Agfa Compugraphic
Intellifont fonts, and Hewlett-Packard Soft Fonts. The rasterizer uses the
same font outlines for screen and printer, providing true WYSIWYG output.

* Multitasking background printing for stand-alone, batch, or network
output through the SuperQueue utility. The spooler returns control to the
application in a fraction of the usual printing time, then processes
documents and graphics while the user continues to work.

* Supplied Kodak TableMaker software lets users create color-correction
lookup tables that modify black level, gamma, and contrast values for each
color plane, and adjust hue and saturation values.

The kit is available with SCSI interface for either ISA/EISA bus
PC-compatibles or IBM PS/2 Microchannel computers for $995. It includes
both the SuperPrint and TableMaker software. The software is available
alone (no SCSI interface) for $495.

The separate SuperPrint network driver works with all popular network
operating systems, including Novell Netware, Banyon VINES, Microsoft LAN
Manager, and IBM LAN server. The basic five-user pack can be expanded to
include additional remote workstation users in increments of five. Each
$495 pack includes five copies of the Kodak TableMaker software.
