New Canaan, CT -- Baseball fans with brains can now play computer baseball
face-to-face, go solo against a computer manager, or play in on-line
leagues with the latest APBA computer baseball programs from Miller
Associates.

APBA Major League Players Baseball 1.5, combined with the new MicroManager,
also allows a fan to relax and watch two "micro" managers play against
each other.

APBA computer baseball, dubbed the "thinking fan's baseball game" by the
Chicago Sun Times for its language and statistical accuracy, has added
three new programs that increase control over the game. The game has also
been upgraded with full hard disk support, more baseball outcomes and rare
plays, and quicker screen writing throughout. These improvements are
available in any play mode and are described below in "APBA 1.5
Enhancements."

MicroManager is a user-programmable, rule-based expert system that lets the
fan define baseball concepts and strategies in Baseball Talk, a language
designed for this purpose. The new MicroManager allows users to play APBA
against the computer. It's designed for season replays, draft league away
games, solo play, or spectator mode. Fans can create managers with their
own rational or wacky ideas about how to manage a team. For a quick start,
MicroManager comes with Blackie Dugan and Blaze Pascual--built-in
managers. See the MicroManager press release for more details.

StatMaster, the APBA statistics compiler, has been upgraded using Borland's
Turbo Vision windowing interface. The new StatMaster 2.0 is four to five
times faster than the previous version, supports season disks on the hard
drive, and has added reports and full mouse support. For more details see
the StatMaster 2.0 press release.

General Manager 1.5, the on-line service for APBA leagues, now includes
Advanced Player Management. New leagues start each month and continue
year-round. CSN offers practice leagues for beginners and 160-game
advanced leagues. Call Miller Associates for details.

APBA computer baseball is often praised for its unique and rich language.
"APBA captures the poetry of basebal," said Peter Lewis of The New York
Times describing the original version. APBA 1.5 further expands the number
of outcomes and the variety of play descriptions. One experienced user
calls it a "new game." Two sales executives from California report playing
4000 games face-to-face yet continue to be "excited every time we sit down
to push P to pitch."

Now, season disks can be put on the hard drive. This eliminates
disk-swapping and speeds up selecting and loading teams.

Quicker screen writing throughout the APBA game speeds up play, especially
substituting players. Searching for players in DRAFT--the league creation
utility that comes with the game--is twice as fast.

APBA 1.5 increases control over the speed of play, too. Quick Play now has
10 levels instead of two. If fans want to experience the full drama they
can slow down the outcomes. If they are hurried to complete a 2000-game
season replay, they can zap up to full speed so that plays happen almost
instantly.

APBA now comes with an install program, SETUPBB, which guides a user
through hard or floppy disk install and decompresses the baseball game. If
a user accepts the default subdirectories, installation takes one minute
on a 27-ms hard drive.

APBA Major League Players Baseball 1.5 requires a PC or PS/2 compatible
computer; monochrome or color graphics adapter; at least 512K of memory;
two drives; and DOS 2.1 or later.

APBA Major League Players Baseball is available from major retailers, like
Electronics Boutique, or directly from Miller Associates by calling the
order line 1-800-654-5472, or by mail or fax. Suggested retail price is
$39.95. For previous owners, the APBA 1.5 Upgrade is $12 plus shipping;
the upgrade is free with MicroManager.

Miller Associates, Inc., based in New Canaan, was founded in 1983. The
company, a pioneer in PC baseball applications, also publishes Duerk's
Electronic Baseball Encyclopedia, the only PC-based baseball encyclopedia,
and more than forty years of APBA season disks.
