BOSTON, August 4 -- Eastman Kodak Company today unveiled the Kodak
professional DCS 200 digital camera featuring a 1.54 million pixel sensor
in a Nikon 8008s camera body.

Available this summer at prices ranging from $8,495 to $9,995, the DCS 200
camera pins the Kodak professional digital camera system (DCS) in
Professional Imaging's and Federal Government Markets' product line.
According to James Patton, manager, U.S. and Canada region and vice
president Professional Imaging, "Professional photographers will recognize
the value we offer in this camera. The combination of price, resolution,
portability, immediacy and quality makes it highly appealing for desktop
and computer imaging markets."

The camera features a Kodak charge-coupled device (CCD) array built into a
special back to fit the Nikon 8008s camera body. This combination provides
rapid auto focus, exposure control, motorized advance and enormous lens
flexibility.

In addition, a small computer software interface (SCSI) port enables the
camera to link directly to Apple Macintosh computers or IBM personal
computers and compatibles. The package also includes drivers for Adobe
Photoshop and Aldus PhotoStyler software.

Kodak is offering four models of the new camera:

o DCS 200 ci--color capture with capacity to store 50 images
o DCS 200 mi--black and white capture with capacity to store
               50 images
o DCS 200 c--color capture with single image storage
o DCS 200 m--black and white capture with single image storage.

"We see major applications in fields requiring rapid turnaround of images,"
notes Patton. "The ability to capture a high resolution digital image
directly into a computer allows effective integration of the DCS 200 with
traditional and custom prepress equipment.

"Applications include medical and scientific documentation, especially when
instant capture of high resolution microscopy images is needed. Law
enforcement and military uses include surveillance and crime scene
documentation. Insurance agents can document claims. Architects can
capture high resolution images of building sites and structures for use in
proposals and for layout and design."

Patton also notes that the DCS 200 will prove valuable for non-action
photojournalism assignments such as accidents, crime scenes and business
story portraits.
