SAUSALITO, CA.--March 18, 1992. ASG, the leading developer of integrated
software applications for architects, engineers, and contractors who use
AutoCAD, has released a major upgrade to its architectural design and
drafting product.

ASG Architectural 5.0 is the first of ASG's AutoCAD applications to use the
new power of the 5.0 series, and the upgrade takes the speed and accuracy
of architectural drawing to new levels. The following new features are
included:

Automatic construction of 2-D roof plans and 3-D roof
  models
 Automatic storefront insertion
 One-step generation of schedules
Two-way database (ASCII and DBF-compatible), for easy
extraction, modification, and posting of data back into
  the drawing
Enhanced Tree and People symbols, including 2-D people and
  detailed 3-D trees
Ability to draw veneer line (for indicating cavity or
sandwich construction), and automatic clean-up of lines
Option to draw walls with centerlines, for easy generation
  of square footage take-offs
Faster, easier generation of walls through new settings
and commands, plus automatic wall hatching and dean-up
Automatic sizing of text within space diagrams
 Faster door and window insertion

ASG Architectural users benefit from all the features of ASG Core 5.0, the
foundation for the system 5.0 series. Released in January, 1992, ASG Core
5.0 is a powerful AutoCAD productivity tool and the means for integration
of the ASG line. Core 5.0 gives all system 5.0 applications full AutoCAD
Release 11 support, network compatibility, Metric and Imperial support, a
direct link to specifications and cost estimations from within the drawing
session, a layering system that conforms to layer names proposed by the
American Institute of Architects, and more.

ASG's recent merger with Vertex Design Systems has created the only company
in the world that offers a total solution for architects. With one system
of software, they can now design, draft, detail, generate full
specifications and cost estimations, and create animated presentations of
any structure for clients.

ASG Architectural is the successor to AutoCAD AEC Architectural, originally
developed for Autodesk, Inc. by ASG and still licensed to Autodesk in the
U.K. The product became the industry-standard architectural application in
the U.S. upon its return to ASG in 1989, when it was significantly
improved and renamed "ASG Architectural." Version 5.0 is the first major
upgrade of ASG Architectural since the transition from AutoCAD AEC, and
remains the only compatible upgrade to the Autodesk product.

The product line now features 14 fully integrated architectural,
structural, mechanical (HVAC and plumbing), electrical, piping, civil
engineering, and modeling/rendering/animation software applications for
the personal computer. ASG's Vertex Division counts among its 30 strategic
partners Du Pont, 3M, Pella/Rolscreen Co., Boise Cascade Co.,
Allied-Signal, Inc., Fry Reglet Corp., SuperSpec, and Timberline Software
Corp.
