XVT RELEASE 3.0 IMMINENT

XVT Software Inc. will soon be shipping Release 3.0 of its popular family
of GUI portability toolkits. The beta testing phase is winding down and
final documentation is being completed. Final Release 3.0 versions of the
XVT libraries and XVT-Design will be available as follows:

 MS-Windows and Motif May 31, 1992
PM, Macintosh and character June 30,1992
 OPEN LOOK July 31, 1992

"Gamma" releases of all XVT libraries (except OPEN LOOK) will be available
in April. Gammas are stable beta releases with preliminary documentation.
XVT-Design will not be available in a gamma release. Gamma releases will
receive full release-level technical support. Contact your XVT Sales
Representative for details on the gamma release program and platform
availability.

Some of Release 3.0's new features include:

Support for 8-bit European languages Consistent events and event
handlers for windows and dialogs Hierarchical menus Simplified
application structure Consistent support for all controls in dialogs and
windows Run-time synthesis of dialogs and controls Timer events
Event masking Support for combo controls and groupboxes Associate
arbitrary data with windows, dialogs, and controls Improved keyboard
focus model Replaceable memory allocation error handler; and many, many
more!

Many functions, variables, macros, constants and types have been rewritten
in terms of the new, more powerful Release 3.0 features. An upward
compatibility layer of mostly portable code recreates, on top of Release
3.0, the full Release 2.0 API. The advantages of this include:

* Existing programs, once recompiled and relinked, will run as they did
before, or even better, without change.

* The compatibility code, which will be released in source form, provides
documentation on how Release 3.0 relates to Release 2.0.

* Full upward compatibility is achieved with a smaller API.

Release 3.0 will be sent to registered users as part of the maintenance
agreement. If you're evaluating XVT, Release 3.0 will confirm XVT's
leadership in portable GUI solutions. Call us and discover why XVT is the
best development decision you can make.
