OKIDATA LAUNCHES RESELLER PROGRAM TO EXPAND DISTRIBUTION FOR ITS
AWARD-WINNING DOC-IT

MT. LAUREL N.J., June 29, 1993 -- To meet the increasing demand for its
DOC-IT Desktop Document Processing (DDP) systems, OKIDATA recently
announced that it widened its channels of distribution for the product by
establishing a DOC-IT Reseller Authorization Program designed to recruit
additional authorized resellers. During the initial roll-out, OKIDATA had
been focusing its DOC-IT distribution efforts primarily through select
ComputerLand locations and imaging value-added resellers (VARs).

In addition to expanding distribution, OKIDATA reduced the suggested list
price of its DOC-IT 3000 and DOC-IT 4000 Desktop Document Processing (DDP)
systems 18 percent and 24 percent, respectively.

DOC-IT, the industry's first fully-integrated desktop document processor,
is designed to help users "stop chasing paper" by incorporating four key
business functions--faxing, scanning, copying and printing - into a single
unit the size of a typical laser printer. The DOC-IT 3000 offers
presentation-quality printing and copying at 300 dpi, and the DOC-IT 4000
provides 400 dpi output for higher quality reproduction of continuous-tone
images.

DOC-IT Reseller Authorization Program

Under its new DOC-IT Reseller Authorization Program, OKIDATA will provide
authorized computer and office equipment resellers -- who have met
specific eligibility requirements -- with a comprehensive package of sales
support tools, including sales referrals; product literature; and
presentation, training and demonstration videos

"Since the introduction of DOC-IT last fall, we have found that resellers
were most successful when they provided end-users with consistent pre- and
post-sale service and support," said John Ring, OKIDATA's director of
Desktop Document Processing "We have packaged the tools resellers need to
fulfill end-user demand for DOC-IT and are opening up the program to other
authorized OKIDATA resellers "

Current OKIDATA resellers must qualify separately to handle the DOC-IT
product line A special DOC-IT reseller qualification line has been
established to expedite the qualification process.

Price Reduction

Under its new pricing structure, the suggested pricing for OKIDATA's DOC-IT
is the following

                    Old Pricing New Pricing

DOC-IT 3000 $3,999 $3,299
DOC-IT 4000 4,999 3,799

Ring stressed the combination of wider availability and a lower suggested
price will make DOC- IT an attractive system for users in small and
mid-sized businesses that have the need to handle volumes of both text and
graphical information, such as law offices, accounting firms and real
estate offices, in addition to users in key departments in Fortune 500
corporations.

"By integrating a scanner, plain-paper fax machine, convenience copier and
printer into a single system, knowledge workers can stop chasing paper,
typically saving 30 minutes to an hour each day because they can more
easily send, receive and manage the myriad of electronic and paper-based
communications," Ring said. "Users have also told us that they now have
the means to be more effective communicators.

Companies currently using DOC-IT to improve their personal productivity
include Andersen Consulting, DRI/McGraw Hill and Fairchild Publications.

Designed for use with MS-DOS and Windows-based personal computers, the
DOC-IT system consists of three elements: a desktop document processor
(DOC-IT DDP); a controller processor board (DOC-IT Controller) for
insertion into a PC/AT-compatible personal computer; and DDP management
software (DOC-IT Manager). Within two months of its introduction, DOC-IT
was honored with several prestigious awards, including Printer of the Year
from BIS Strategic Decisions and a BYTE magazine Award of Merit.
