CASTELLE ADDS LOW-COST LANPRESS 1P TO PRINT SERVER FAMILY

Also Ships Novell/UNlX Versions of LANpress Print Servers

NEW YORK -- June 29, 1993 -- Castelle, Inc. today announced the expansion
of its print server family with the introduction of LANpress 1P. LANpress
1P is a single parallel port, external print server that turns any printer
with a Centronics parallel port into a network printer. The LANpress 1P,
which operates in a 10BaseT Ethernet Novell network environment, is being
shown in Castelle's booth #2178 at PC Expo.

Castelle's LANpress 1P is comparable to products categorized as "pocket"
print servers because it is space-conscious and offers one parallel port.
Priced at $449 in the U.S., Castelle's LANpress 1P offers customers the
best value for any single-parallel port, external print server on the
market. This compact print server fits in the palm of your hand, and
offers an effective and convenient solution for users with limited space
near their printers. LANpress 1P is easily attached to the side of the
printer, thereby eliminating the need to move the laser printer further
away from the wall, as is the case with other print servers that protrude
from the back of the printer when connected.

The design and versatility of the LANpress 1P enable the network printer to
function in a location that's convenient for all users. LANpress 1 P
installation is virtually "plug-and-play": just connect the LANpress to
the printer, connect the network, and run the simple installation
procedure. Importantly, users on the Novell network will be able to send
print jobs to the printer without changing any of their software.

The LANpress 1P supports both print server and RPRINTER modes in a Novell
NetWare 2.1 x, 2.2, 3.x or 4.0 environment, and will be available in
July.

Multi-Protocol Print Servers Now Available

Castelle's LANpress 1+1 and LANpress 2+2 print servers for NetWare/UNlX
networks are shipping. These multi-protocol print servers enable TCP/IP
and Novell IPX/SPX users to print on the same printer, which simplifies
the integration of the NetWare and UNIX network environments. Castelle's
multi-protocol version of JetPress MlO PLUS, an internal print server
board for HP printers and plotters, will ship later in the third quarter.

Users who utilize both NetWare and TCP/IP networks in their organizations
can print either DOS, Windows, or UNlX-based documents from any PC or
workstation on the LAN. These multi-protocol print servers maintain all of
the features offered in the Novell-only versions of LANpress, and support
most popular UNIX systems, including Sun OS 4.1.x, SCO, as well as other
System V and Berkeley UNIX systems.

U.S. pricing for the multi-protocol, Ethernet-based platforms is set at
$699 for the LANpress 1+1 10BaseT and Thin (Combo) version; $999 for the
LANpress 2+2 10BaseT and Thick version; $999 for the LANpress 2+2 Thick
and Thin version, and $649 for the JetPress MlO PLUS version. Upgrades to
these multi-protocol versions are available for current users of
Castelle's Ethernet LANpress 1+1, LANpress 2+2, JetPress MIO and JetPress
XIO NetWare-only print servers, for $1 99.

Castelle, Inc. designs, manufactures, markets and supports dedicated server
