IMPROVED INTEL SOFTWARE TECHNOLOGY BOOSTS PC VIDEO PLAYBACK PERFORMANCE AND
PICTURE QUALITY

32 Licensees for Intel's Indeo Video Technology Also Announced

NEW YORK, June 29, 1993 -- Intel Corporation today announced enhancements
to its Indeo video software technology that boost picture clarity, color
reproduction and software-only playback performance of Indeo video
compressed files.

Indeo video is an advanced compression/decompression software technology
that allows for scalable, software-only video playback on Intel processor
based personal computers.

Video playback is two times faster than with earlier versions of the
technology. As a result, PCs equipped with an Intel486 DX2 or Pentium
processor are able to playback in full screen mode (using software only) a
file captured and compressed by an Intel Smart Video Recorder in real-time
at 320 x 240 at 15 frames per second. In addition, the built-in
scalability of Indeo technology adjusts the frame rate depending on the
computer's performance capabilities. This allows users to play Indeo video
files on any Intel 486SX or DX processor-based PC.

"The latest enhancements significantly improve the level of video quality
that can be achieved on a PC without expensive video add-on hardware,"
said Claude Leglise, video brand marketing director at Intel. "The new and
improved Indeo video technology delivers excellent picture playback on a
full range of systems. And the combination of Indeo video and Intel's
recently announced Smart Video Recorder means users can capture and
compress a video file in a single step, saving time and money. "

Compatibility and Availability

The latest version of Indeo video is fully compatible with any file created
using earlier versions of the technology. The new enhanced Indeo video
will be available in August. Registered Intel Smart Video Recorder owners
will receive update disks free of charge. Licensed users may also download
the updated software by calling Intel's on-line bulletin board service at
916-356-3600.

32 Licensees Announced

In addition to the original licensees (Microsoft's Video for Windows, IBM's
OS/2 R2.1 and upcoming Multimedia Presentation Manager, and Apple
Computer's QuickTime, more than 20 companies will be demonstrating
products incorporating Indeo video at PC Expo this week.
