FIFTH GENERATION SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES FASTBACK EXPRESS VERSION 2.0

New version offers simplified interface, virus protection, and the new
Fastback Information Line 

BATON ROUGE, La., May 18, 1993 Fifth Generation Systems today announced
Fastback Plus Express version 2.0 for DOS, an upgrade to their entry-level
backup program. Fastback Plus Express 2.0 will begin shipping in June.
Fastback Express for DOS, Windows, and Macintosh will now sell for $59, a
$40 reduction from the previous price.

"Fifth Generation Systems strives to provide complete solutions to meet all

functionality added to the Express product gives our entry-level users an
easy-to-use, full featured solution to backing up their important data."

New features of Fastback Express 2.0 include:

* Interface Enhancements - Fastback Express 2.0 features a simplified
interface designed by users. It includes improved screens, simplified file
selection, and a Compare function.

* Virus Protection - Fastback Express 2.0 includes the scanner
functionality of Search & Destroy, recently named the top virus scanner on
the market by the International Computer Security Association. Users can
check for known viruses on the system, ensuring a virus-free backup.

* Enhanced Express Menu Functionality - Express menus now allow users to
select files by typing in specifications. Additionally, users can restore
files from old backup sets and perform compares of backups.

* Enhanced File Restoration Functionality - Fastback Express 2.0 allows
users to quickly restore files by retrieving history files from backups
made by the Fastback 2.xx and 1.xx series.

* Fastback Information Line - Fastback Express 2.0 contains an information
line at the bottom of the screen as an additional Help function. The
information line aids users in understanding the different features by
providing a short description of each.

product line manager. "With these new features, Fifth Generation will lead
the entry-level backup market in functionality, reliability, and speed."

The announcement of Version 2.0 accompanies Fifth Generation's introduction
of several other Fastback backup products including: Fastback Plus for
DOS, Version 6.0; Fastback Plus for Windows, Version 1.1; Fastback Plus
for OS/2, Version 1.0; and Fastback Express for the Macintosh, Version
2.0. Fifth Generation also publishes versions of Fastback for Unix and an
Express version for Windows.

Fastback Express 2.0 requires an IBM PC/XT/AT or compatible, 640K RAM,
MS/PC DOS 3.3 or higher, and a hard drive. It supports any extended or
expanded memory manager including QEMM, 386MAX, EMM386, and HIMEM.SYS and
is completely compatible with MS DOS 6.0.
