Kingston Technology Announces The Immediate Availability of DataCard; The
First Micro Channel Card that Offers Both Memory And Storage

New York, PC EXPO -- Kingston Technology (Fountain Valley, CA, Booth
#2770), today announced the immediate availability of DataCard; the first
Micro Channel multifunction card. The DataCard provides PS/2 users with
the additional storage and memory requirements they demand. Available in
16 and 32-bit versions, DataCard offers either a 127 or 209 megabyte, 16
millisecond access time 2.5" winchester hard drive plus four SIMM sockets
for up to 64MB of additional system memory all on one Micro Channel
expansion card. DataCard is the ideal upgrade for IBM PS/2 users who need
additional storage and memory-for Windows and OS/2 but have no means of
adding an additional internal hard drive or system memory.

DataCard was developed as a result of customer feedback indicating that
while system hardware requirements are continuing to increase due to the
complexity of today's graphical software, most Micro Channel systems have
only limited upgrade capabilities. Users of IBM PS/2 systems that have
only three expansion slots frequently run out of bus expansion and will be
well served by cards that pack more than one function into one expansion
slot. Existing storage devices and system memory will coexist with
DataCard.

The 16-bit version of DataCard features either a 127 or 209MB hard disk
drive plus four SIMM sockets that will accept 2, 4, 8 and 16 megabyte
IBM-standard SIMM modules allowing for up to 16MB of system memory. The
32-bit version has the same disk drives and SIMM sockets, but allows up to
64MB of system memory.

The 16-bit card is ideal for IBM PS/2 Models based on either 286 or 386SX
processors. The 32-bit version is ideal for 386DX and 486 based PS/2s.
DataCard is compatible with Micro Channel systems from NCR, Olivetti and
Memorex-Telex. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price is $695 for both 16
and 32-bit DataCard versions with a 127MB disk, $895 for DataCard with a
209MB disk.

DataCard is the first in a line of innovative data storage products based
on 2.5" hard disk drive technology. These fast, space saving devices allow
Kingston to design and produce storage products that are compact and
innovative without sacrificing reliability and performance. Kingston's
storage line joins Kingston's growing memory, processor upgrade and
network product lines.

With annual sales over $250 million, Kingston Technology is the leader in
memory, processor, storage and graphics upgrades for PCs, workstations and
laser printers. According to Inc. Magazine, (Oct. 1992), Kingston is the
fastest growing privately held company in the United States.

The firm markets its products through a world-wide network of distributors,
major reseller chains and independent dealers.
