ATI Technologies Announces An Industry First:
Hardware Upgrade Program

July 1, 1993 - Toronto, Ontario In a move unprecedented in the computer
hardware market, ATI Technologies Inc. today introduced an upgrade
exchange program for its graphics products. Owners of ATI graphics cards
will be able to upgrade to newer ATI accelerator products, including the
GRAPHICS ULTRA PRO, with significant savings over the retail price.
Software vendors typically offer upgrade programs, but this is the first
time a program like this has been offered by a hardware manufacturer.

"We are delighted to hear of ATI's Upgrade Program and will take full
advantage of it," said Bill Tang, Principle Research Engineer for Ford
Motor Company. "This is a program that no other company offers and is
another clear indication of how ATI stands behind its products and its
customers."

"Our Upgrade Program is a unique vehicle that allows ATI to deliver the
latest technology at a significant cost savings to our existing
customers," said Henry Quan, Vice-President of Marketing for ATI. For
example, any ATI customer who currently owns a GRAPHICS VANTAGE can
upgrade to a 2MB GRAPHICS ULTRA PRO for less than the price of the retail
product, realizing a savings of more than $250.

Graphics represent the fastest changing segment of the computer hardware
business. Not only are products moving toward more resolution and greater
colors, but also increased functionality like multimedia video
acceleration. ATI customers are protected against product obsolescence by
being able to upgrade economically to the latest in graphics technology.
Customers also benefit from the program because they are able to extend
the warranty on their graphics card indefinitely by taking advantage of
ATI's five year warranty each time they upgrade.

"Revolutionary breakthroughs in technology in the microcomputing industry
decrease product lifespans resulting in a real impact on end users," said
Joan-Carol Brigham, Director of Research for International Data
Corporation (IDC). "ATI, with their Upgrade Program, is the first hardware
vendor to offer customers the means to actually safeguard their investment
by providing a cost-effective way to move up to the latest ATI technology
as it evolves."

ATI customers wanting to take advantage of this program can obtain an
upgrade form by calling ATI Customer Support at (416) 756-0711; by fax
through ATI's FaxInfo line at (416) 756-0718, pressing 2 and selecting
document #5020; or by downloading the form from ATI's Forum on CompuServe
(GO ATITECH).

Customers then complete the form and return it to ATI either by mail or
fax. The ATI Trade-In/Upgrade Program will start July 1, 1993.
