MINUTEMAN EXPANDS ALLIANCE SERIES: UPSs TO PROVIDE AUTOMATIC VOLTAGE BOOST

NEW YORK (June 29, 1993) -- A 12 percent voltage boost without accessing
the batteries is typically a feature reserved for the higher-end,
line-interactive uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs). The new MINUTEMAN
Alliance 500 and 750 UPSs, however, provide the boost capability, a
line-interactive process that delivers performance at a lower price ($299
and $429).

"There is no UPS on the market that is this powerful with these features at
this price -- it is a performance breakthrough in our industry," said Les
Robertson, vice president of sales and marketing for MINUTEMAN.

Unlike similar products in the UPS market, the Alliance units have LEDs
that indicate AC normal, voltage boost, inverter mode (accessing
batteries) and fault. An audible alarm sounds every 10 seconds when the
UPS is in the inverter mode and changes to once every second at low
battery warning.

In addition to the LEDs, the Alliance UPSs have a test button on the unit
that simulates a blackout to test the system. Also, the units have dip
switches that can be adjusted lower by either five or 10 volts to
accommodate areas with low voltage and frequent brownouts. No other UPS of
comparable size has all of these features.

The Alliance Series includes the A300, A425, A500 and A750 models (300,
425, 500 and 750 denote the number of volt amps) and the units are used
mainly with computer networks, workstations, stand-alone PCs, LAN nodes
and POS equipment. The UPSs protect against all commercial power problems
including brownouts, blackouts, spikes and overload in AC and DC mode.

"The newest Alliance models correct AC power input instantly without
switching to battery back up," said Les Robertson, vice president of sales
and marketing for MINUTEMAN. "Now the network can run continuously without
shutting down or relying on frequent switching to inverter (battery)
mode."

MINUTEMAN's Alliance UPSs are now available through the company's
distributors, dealers and VARs nationwide. In addition, the Alliance UPSs
are available through MINUTEMAN by calling 800-238-7272.

MINUTEMAN, a privately held company founded in 1982, is a leading provider
of uninterruptible power supplies for microcomputers, minicomputers, cash
registers/POS systems and office telephone equipment. MINUTEMAN also
