CALLER ID for WINDOWS

June 29, 1993 PC Expo, New York -- VIVE Synergies Inc. introduces today two
Caller ID Devices known as Call Editors and an accompanying interfacing
software known as WindowsHinge which, when used together with a telephone
line equipped with the Caller ID service by the telephone company, enable
users of ACT! for Windows and other application programs running under
Windows to have automated Caller ID, File Retrieval, and Call Logging
functions.

During the silence interval after the first ring of an incoming call, the
telephone company sends Caller ID information down the telephone line in
FSK Signalling format. Call Editor captures the signalling and decodes it
for the Date and Time of arrival of the call and the Calling Line Number
and various other kinds of messages. Call Editor then delivers these data
through its RS232 output to the serial port of the computer running
Windows Hinge under Windows along with ACT!, a popular Contact Management
Software, or other application software.

WindowsHinge searches the database of ACT! for the names (or name) of
Contacts relative to the Calling Line Number and writes them in a Dialog
Box and allows the user to point and click to bring the Contact File of
the caller to the screen. Thereupon the user may decide to answer the call
and as he or she takes the telephone off-hook, the Dialog Box begins to
register the duration of the call until the call is finished.

At anytime after the Dialog Box appears, the user may point and click to
bring the Contact's file to the screen for full particulars on the caller
and previous call history or notes. The user may make a call from a
Contact's file on the screen by simply pointing and clicking the telephone
number and an icon for a pre-recorded macro to dial a Local Call, a Long
Distance Call, or an International Call through Call Editor. All outbound
and inbound calls are logged in a Call Log file for date and time of the
call, the telephone number of the calling party or the number of the party
called, and the duration of the call.

Windows Hinge is also useful for integrating Call Editor with other
application programs running under Windows. It provides through DDE the
following data: the Date and Time of the Call, the Calling Line Number,
the Date and Time when the telephone connected to the Call Editor goes
off-hook and when it goes on-nook, thus giving the duration of the call.
It also allows the user to dial a telephone number from the computer
through Call Editor.

Two versions of Call Editors for integration with a computer are available;
these are Call Editor II and Call Editor RSA. Both have the functional
capabilities of decoding the Caller ID signalling, delivering the decoded
data to the computer, and out-dialling a telephone number given by the
computer. Call Editor II has the additional features of being capable of
standalone operation and being operated by battery. Call Editor II is
programmable for call blocking and has memory capacity for storing up to
99 sets of Caller ID Data. When used in integration with a computer system
as described above, it offers the advantage of being able to continue to
capture Caller ID information in the event of power outage. The content of
the memory can be downloaded to the computer by a simple listing procedure
when power resumes.

Call Editor II + WindowsHinge package retails for US$225.00 and Call Editor
RSA + WindowsHinge package retails for US$125.00.
