RICHARDSON, TEXAS -- June 29, 1993--Altsys Corporation has announced it
will demonstrate Fontographer 3.5, the industry standard powerful font
editing program, at PC Expo, June 29-July 1, in New York

Fontographer for Windows enables users to customize their existing fonts,
automatically trace scanned images. and incorporate PostScript language
artwork into a font, as well as take advantage of flexible tools to create
completely new fonts from scratch

Only four months after being launched in the marketplace, Fontographer 3.5
received a number of industry awards PC Magazine's Choice of "Best Buy of
1992"; Windows Magazine Win 100 Award; and WindowsUser Editor's Choice
Award Finalist.

"Font usage is exploding on the PC side the way it did on the Mac,"
explained James Von Ehr, Altsys president. "Fontographer gives font users
incredible creative control over their existing fonts, and gives all
designers total creative license to make new fonts. We have recently
launched a new advertising campaign as well as a new package design
reinforcing the solutions Fontographer provides. We're excited about

To further increase the presence of Fontographer and Altsys Corporation's
full product line, the company recently entered into an agreement with
Consumer Products Marketing Group (CPMG), a national field marketing
organization. Under the terms of the agreement, CPMG will assist Altsys in
its launch of new and existing products, throughout the wholesale and
dealer channels. across the United States.

Fontographer users can create and edit automatically-hinted Type I
PostScript (ATM-compatible) and TrueType fonts for Windows-compatible PCs.
Fontographer also generates Unix format Type I PostScript fonts for use on
the NEXT and other Unix-based workstations. Additionally, Fontographer
will create Windows bitmap fonts (.FON) and EPS (Encapsulated PostScript
(.ai) files.

Fontographer for Windows opens any PostScript Type I or TrueType font for
the PC, and lets users create condensed, expanded, and oblique versions of
the same font, or modify any of those fonts to suit their design needs.
One character. several characters, or entire fonts can be scaled, rotated,
and skewed to create new and unique typefaces. Fontographer allows the
user to create lighter or heavier characters or fonts with one easy
"Change Weight" command. or to create multiple font designs from two
existing typefaces with interpolation (font blending). Additionally,
Fontographer's metrics window provides complete control over character
width, spacing, offset, kerning, and left and right sidebearings.

Novices and professionals can also create characters with Fontographer's
versatile tool palette. Users can draw with the innovative freehand
drawing tool that can be used as a freestyle drawing pen tool a
calligraphic pen tool or a variable-weight pen tool which supports
pressure-sensitive pens an digitizing tablets. Users can even create
characters consisting of a single stroke and then expand the stroke to
create a new outline character. Fontographer also takes advantage of
Windows drag and drop capabilities. Images can be dragged and dropped from
programs like Paintbrush and Aldus FreeHand to create new characters and
add them to any font.

Fontographer 3.5 for Windows includes a comprehensive user's manual, a
detailed tutorial, unlimited free technical support, and free fonts.
Minimum system requirement 286-based Windows-compatible computer with 4 MB
of RAM running under Windows 3.1. Recommended system: 386DX-based
Windows-compatible compute with 4 MB of RAM. Fontographer 3.5 can be
purchased through Altsys direct or through Altsys domestic and
international distribution and reseller channels. Fontographer has a
suggested retail price of $495. Registered users of Fontographer for the
Macintosh can purchase the Windows version for $$199.00.
