Phoenix Technologies Ltd. Announces Summer Release of Eclipse FIND

Instant Text Retrieval Software for Windows

New York City, June 29, 1993--Phoenix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: PTEC) will
officially introduce Eclipse FIND--the newest program in its line of
innovative productivity software for end users--during PC EXPO.

At the forefront of Instant Text Retrieval (ITR) technology, Eclipse FIND
allows Windows users to instantly search, find, retrieve, view, organize
and archive files from any Windows applications. During preliminary
editorial product demonstrations earlier this year, Eclipse FIND was
acknowledged as an important, new problem solving utility for Windows
users.

Eclipse FIND is expected to be in full distribution later this summer.

Find Any Document in Less than 3 Seconds

Eclipse FIND gives users an incredibly fast way to find information stored
on their hard drive. As users work and create files in their usual way,
E-FIND works in the background with a powerful, built-in intelligence that
classifies, organizes and updates files based on the contents inside them.
This electronic index allows the program to retrieve most documents in
less than 3 seconds.

Once a document is retrieved, users save even more time by using Eclipse
FINDs special viewing tools. For example, you can copy and append text to
the clipboard for use in other applications. A double click on the file
name launches you into that application, ready to work.

Eclipse FIND Planned Features

Documentation Retrieval and Management

* Infodex. Eclipse FIND's built-in, background intelligence classifies,
tracks, and indexes documents based on the information inside them. As you
routinely create and save files, E-FIND's electronic file index
automatically updates itself.

* Expanded File Labeling. Eclipse FIND gives you unprecedented flexibility
for labeling files. For example, you can label names with up to 52
characters. Classify one file in several ways, tag files by type of
application, by project, client, subject --virtually any identifier you
want.

* Encryption. Use Eclipse FIND's industry special technology to select a
group of files for password protection.

* Calendar View. The Calendar View option lists files in weekly or monthly
format.

File Retrieving and Viewing

* E-FIND Dialog Box. Click on the Eclipse FIND button or select from the
system menu in any Windows application to access the program's full text
retrieval capabilities.

* File Viewers. Once a file is found, click to display, browse, and scroll
its contents. View word processing documents, e-mail files, spreadsheets,
databases, desktop publishing documents, and more. Use the view window to
copy and append text to the clipboard for use in other applications.

Search History. Your search activity is recorded and stored. Click to
repeat a previous search, or review the searches just performed.

File Archiving

* Automatic Intelligent Archiving. Eclipse FIND works on all directories
and drives specified. Since FIND locates files based on CONTENTS, there is
no need to remember where the file is stored.

* File Compression. Eclipse FIND's PK-ZIP compression technology allows you
to compress and decompress files. Reduce disk space usage by up to 80%.
Combine, compress, and store groups of less used files, or "off load" to a
floppy disk.

Additional Features

* Hard Drive Sweep This special utility maintains maximum hard drive
efficiency, and save time and disk space by identifying files for
deletion, compression, or off-loading to floppy.

* Tool Bar Convenience. Convenient tool bars give you access to Eclipse
FIND's most frequently used functions: FIND, Narrow Find, Open, Copy,
Move, Delete, Print, FAX, Copy/Append, Zoom Display, Archive and
Retrieve.

* Network Compatible. Network ready straight from the box, Eclipse FIND can
locate and display files on network or local drives.

Eclipse FIND runs under Microsoft Windows and requires a 386 or better IBM
PC or compatible computer; 4 megabytes RAM or more; and a 40 megabyte hard
drive or later. Eclipse FIND will be available this summer from all key
distributors and resellers for the suggested retail price of $119.

Phoenix's family of consumer level "essential" productivity software also
includes the highly acclaimed Eclipse FAX, winner of PC Magazine's Editors
Choice Award for fax software, and Eclipse FAX LITE.
