FIFTH GENERATION SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES DISKLOCK 2.0

Offers Powerful Data Access Restriction, Virus Protection, A Simplified
Interface, And More.

BATON ROUGE, La., April 29, 1993 -- Fifth Generation Systems today
announced DiskLock 2.0, a major upgrade to their popular data access
security program for IBM PCs and compatibles. DiskLock 2.0 offers many
enhanced features while further simplifying the product interface.

"The old school of thought approaches PC security from a mainframe
perspective; if it is any good, it must be difficult to use," said Barry
L. Bellue, Sr., president and CEO. "As a result, many users have been
turned off from security software. DiskLock is the first security software
program designed to address the needs of the majority. It provides basic
access restriction and virus protection, yet it is unobtrusive and easy to
use."

New features of version 2.0 include:

* Known Virus Detection, Prevention, and Recovery - includes Search &
Destroy, Fifth Generation's known virus software. Search & Destroy offers
full virus detection, prevention, and recovery from thousands of known
viruses, including those found in compressed and archived files.

* Multiple Secondary Users - adds additional secondary user support with up
to five secondary users, one guest user, in addition to a primary (or
administrative) user. Corporate security managers can encode a Master
password before installing DiskLock on individual machines to assure entry
should the primary user leave the company.

* Password Options - incorporates password aging which allows the
administrator to assign a minimum and maximum password life. DiskLock
automatically maintains a password history so users cannot use the same
password for a given amount of time.

* Enhanced Interface - provides full functionality under DOS and Windows,
featuring button bars, graphic push buttons, drag and drop virus scanning,
and online, context-sensitive help.

* Discretionary File Protection - enables users to protect individual files
and directories by spec or by quick tagging methods. DiskLock supports
file locking and two methods of encryption, including proprietary and the
government standard DES specifications. The program allows administrators
to assign discretionary access to secondary users by granting full access
or no access to files and directories.

* Enhanced Auditing - brings detailed audit information on-line and
simplifies the information in five pre-defined reports, including session
report, user report, violations report, maintenance report, and virus
report.

* Autolocking - automatically blanks the screen and secures the system
after a set period of mouse or keyboard inactivity. Although not a new
feature, the idle time has been increased from 60 minutes to 120 minutes.

* Full Windows and DOS Functionality - including Windows 3.1 and DOS 6.0.

"DiskLock 2.0 is a major break-through in access security software because
it is designed for the average PC user who has some degree of confidential
work-related or personal information they don't want to share with
others," said Vicky Gore, senior product marketing manager. "Because of
its versatile feature set and its unrivaled ease of use, DiskLock is ideal
for PC users seeking basic access restriction and virus protection without
hassle and high overhead. DiskLock is a perfect solution for Fortune 500
corporations, small businesses, government agencies, educational
institutions, portable computer users, home businesses, and personal users
alike."

DiskLock 2.0 requires an IBM PC, AT, PS/2 or compatible; DOS 3.3 or higher;
Windows 3.1; 640K conventional memory; and works with a Microsoft or
compatible mouse.

The product is available immediately through distributors, retailers, and
mass merchants. The suggested retail price for DiskLock 2.0 is $99.
Current registered users may upgrade for $39. Site licenses, GSA pricing,
and educational discounts are available.
