NEW DESIGN FITS SPECIALIZED SERVERS INTO A BREADBOX

CEC Corporation announced it will unveil the CyCube System, a complete line
of specialized network servers, at the 1993 PC Expo. The System is
designed to allow four servers to fit into a 15-inch cube the size of a
breadbox. CEC President Gustav Pedersen's objective is to provide a
compact, easy, and flexible way for users to install specialized servers
into their networks.

The CyCube System is a family of independent, self-contained servers, each
of which satisfies a specific networking function. The current CyCube
family consists of:

CyFax: A network fax server

CyComm: A network communications server (dial in/dial out)

CyBoard: A Corporate Bulletin Board Server

Future products include database and E-Mail servers.

CEC's unique modular design offers system managers many advantages: it
saves space, is simple to install, and makes maintenance quick and easy.
Each module is the size of a shoebox.
You can hold it in one hand," says Pedersen, "and it's rackmountable." In
fact, a standard 19" rack can hold up to five CyCubes (and twenty
independent servers). The CyCube System provides administrators with a
clear path for network expansion and upgrades.

Modem, software, and hardware are installed as complete entities. "All you
have to do is plug in your network and the phone lines," says Deepak
Trivedi, an enthusiastic customer. The whole CyCube System can easily be
plugged into the user's backbone with a single connector.

The capability of housing four servers within an area the size of a
breadbox significantly reduces the amount of space required for
specialized servers. In addition, if one of the server modules
malfunctions, it can be replaced without taking the entire system down.
Pedersen says he can replace a server in less than 50 seconds.

The idea of CyCube came in a flash to Pedersen, a system consultant, as he
was installing a communications server for the New York Stock Exchange.
Holding a motherboard in one hand, he realized, "This is a small dinner
plate, and I'm putting it into a container the size of a suitcase." He
then decided to develop a more compact and comprehensive system design -
and the CyCube was born.

According to Pedersen, the CyCube family of products is affordable for all
businesses. CEC is targeting both start-up networks, WANs and internets.
The CyCube System makes downsizing and LAN growth easier to manage.
