PORTFOLIO SOFTWARE ACQUIRES ACTA 7 FROM SYMMETRY SOFTWARE CORP.
Acta 7 Becomes DynoNotepad

CUPERTINO, Calif. -- May 21, 1993 -- Portfolio Software, Inc. developer of
award-winning Dynodex address book software, today announced it has
acquired Scottsdale, AZ-based Symmetry Software Corp.'s Acta 7 notepad
product for Macintosh users, underscoring Portfolio's commitment to
provide a suite of specialized, cross-platform software to help users keep
track of contacts, and manage activities and time.

Portfolio will soon be shipping a new, full featured Windows version of
Acta 7, re-named, DynoNotepad. A significantly upgraded Macintosh version
will ship in June.

New DynoNotepad

DynoNotepad for Windows users is a fast, flexible and compact PIM outliner
that helps executives, managers, sales and marketing professionals,
writers and other Windows users organize their thoughts, write
correspondence and create "to-do" lists. It is easy to use because it
offers a familiar metaphor -- the notepad -- to quickly gather and
organize thoughts. Object oriented notetaking has arrived.

Brian Smiga, Portfolio's co-founder and general manager said, "Portfolio's
vision is to deliver cross-platform, powerful and fast personal
information management (PIM) components to help people keep track of the
'who, what and when' in their lives. "Our first product, Dynodex, is the
'who' component; and DynoNotepad is the 'what' component. Stay tuned for
the 'when'."

Users can work with DynoNotepad the same way they do with a traditional,
paper notepad. For example, they can capture their thoughts, outline them,
write basic documents, prioritize action items, keep lists of things to
accomplish and develop proposals. DynoNotepad's outliner format makes it
easy to arrange ideas or prioritize actions, making writing and project
planning faster and more focused. Many DynoNotepad files can be open at
the same time, allowing users to work on multiple projects
simultaneously.

Smiga commented, "What we've observed is that once people begin using
DynoNotepad, they use it all the time. If you write, you'll always reach
for DynoNotepad to get started."

Jean-Louie Gassee, chief executive officer of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Be
Incorporated and noted industry observer said, "DynoNotepad is very
elegant and offers just the right features. I couldn't ask for more."

For corporate and small business workgroups -- who may have both Windows
and Macintosh PCs -- DynoNotepad can be used to share notes on a network
between groups. For mobile PC users, DynoNotepad offers a useful and
powerful tool that also conserves battery life and disk space. Notebook
users can run DynoNotepad to get started on documents while travelling,
then later bring their outlines and other documents into word processors
for final formatting.

DynoNotepad helps users arrange thoughts hierarchically. The program uses
the metaphor of a family to describe relationships between ideas. The
terms mother, daughter, sister and aunt make it easy for users to
understand and remember the connections between parts of the outline.
Outline elements can be labeled with bullets, triangles, and checkboxes;
or the traditional Harvard (1.A, 2.B) and Legal (1.0,1.1) labels; as well
as user-defined labels.

DynoNotepad retails for $59.95. Registered users of Portfolio's Dynodex can
obtain a copy of DynoNotepad directly from Portfolio for $39.95.

System Requirements

DynoNotepad requires an IBM or 100% compatible computer with 2 MB RAM,
Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher, MS-DOS 3.3 or higher and any printer
supported by Windows 3.1 DynoNotepad runs on as little as 40K of RAM.
