RADIO ENGINEER version 3

This program should be very usefull to anyone who designs and builds their
own radio equipment like me.

Engineer.exe has nine different programs within it, to calculate resonant
frequency from any combination of Inductance, Capacitance or Frequency and
it will work out the Capacitive and Inductive reactance of coils and caps.

It has two programs for converting wavelength to frequency and vice versa
with answers in the correct units. In fact all the programs use the correct
unit for answers and questions i.e pico, nano, micro, mili,Kilo,Mega,Giga.

The frequency to wavelength program gives answers for practical free space
aerial sizes such as 1/4 wave, 1/2 wave, 5/8 wave etc and the wavelength
to frequency program shows the nearest medium wave channel for 9KHz channel
spacing, when wavelengths fall in the medium wave range.

In this version I have added calculation for dish gain, nothing else has
changed from version 2.

In version two I added calculation for waveguide wavelength for all waveguide
types from 350MHz to 220GHz and modified the frequency to wavelength program
to include feet and inches as well as metric answers. This will only be of
interest to people who build their own microwave transmitters or receivers.

A colour menu was added in version 2 aswell, so you can configure ENGINEER to
your own colours.

I have taken great care in checking this program for errors of calculation
and after using it for some months and checking the results I am confident
its results are correct under all conditions. If you have any problems
please e-mail me.

                              GENERAL POINTS
To enter the value of a capacitor, coil or frequency etc you are first asked
for the value and then the unit.
So for example to enter a 10uF capacitor just type 10 press enter then type
u for uF. You can also type uf or uF its your choice.

To quit from the program you can type QUIT END or N from the main menu.

This program uses a file called engineer.cfg to store the colours selected
and this file should be kept with ENGINEER.EXE and not renamed. If you delete
or rename engineer.cfg the program will create a new config file and restore
the default colours.

You can rename ENGINEER.EXE to anything you like, I suggest ENG.EXE

If you find this program useful a small contribution would be appreciated.

I have been unemployed for almost 10 years now and despite my skills have
great difficulty getting a job and now have health problems aswell.

I will not accept any payment from people unless they are in good employment
and with a reasonable standard of living (Can afford a new car every few years,
has own house etc). Payment from people on very low income, Unemployed,
or on Benefits, welfare or retirement pension are not required and you have
permission to use and enjoy this program indefinately.

If you are in good employment and use this program then a small contribution
of say 10UK pounds or $10 would be appreciated. If you do not agree to this
then you have my blessing to continue using the program if you find it
helpful to your electronics activities. Perhaps you could distribute/upload
the program for me, instead of payment?

Send cheque/check/cash to:
