SUMMIT ANNOUNCES SEVEN NEW VERSIONS OF BASICSCRIPT

Introduces BasicScript 2.0 for Windows, BasicScript 2.0 for Win32,
BasicScript 2.0 for MS-DOS, BasicScript 2.0 for UNIX, BasicScript 2.0 for
Macintosh, BasicScript 2.0 for NetWare and BasicScript 2.0 for OS/2

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- March 15, 1994 -- Summit Software Company (Syracuse,
NY) today introduced new Windows, Windows NT, MS-DOS, UNIX, Macintosh,
NetWare and OS/2 versions of BasicScript, its leading macro language
system. The new products, BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit for Windows, BasicScript
2.0 Toolkit for Win32, BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit for MS-DOS, BasicScript 2.0
Toolkit for UNIX, BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit for Macintosh, BasicScript 2.0
Toolkit for NetWare and BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit for OS/2, allow software
developers to add complete macro language capabilities, similar to those
of Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), to their applications
easily and economically.

BasicScript 2.0 is a major update to the software recently named Editor's
Choice by PC Magazine among cross-application macro languages (2/8/94).
The new versions of BasicScript coincide with Summit's strategy of
delivering macro language Toolkit products on all major personal computer
and workstation platforms. BasicScript 2.0 is a powerful macro language
whose syntax is compatible with industry standards such as Microsoft
Visual Basic and Visual Basic for Applications. By offering multiple
versions of the BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit, Summit provides the tools
necessary for ISVs and corporate developers to offer a full set of macro
language features, regardless of which operating systems their
applications support.

"Since introducing the first release of BasicScript, Summit has emerged as
the Windows and MS-DOS macro language technology leader and one of the two
market leaders," said William Fisher, President of Summit Software.
"Summit's newest BasicScript releases provide our customers with the
assurance that we will provide them with macro language technology of the
highest quality for each computing platform their applications support.
With BasicScript 2.0, we have updated our language to support important
new industry standards such as OLE 2.0 Automation, implemented many of the
new features introduced by Microsoft's Visual Basic products, and made
numerous other enhancements to each tool in the BasicScript 2.0 Toolkit.
Equally important to our customers, we have further simplified the process
of integrating the BasicScript language into an application. We've
simplified our APIs, significantly expanded our programmer and end user
documentation, and implemented numerous new free support options,
including Internet access and a 24-hour BBS, to supplement our existing
free telephone, fax, and public e-mail support. We have taken these steps
to help our customers reduce their time to market and reduce their
engineering, documentation, and support costs, while providing them with
the technology they need to be competitive in their markets."

"With BasicScript 2.0, Summit gives developers a complete macro language
solution that is compatible with the Microsoft Visual Basic syntax that is
becoming an industry standard. We also wholeheartedly support Microsoft's
OLE 2.0 standard BasicScript 2.0 fully supports OLE 2.0 Automation on
Windows, Windows NT and Macintosh operating systems. As Microsoft extends
OLE 2.0 into areas such as OLE 2.0 controls, Summit will update
BasicScript to support these extensions. By offering superior technology
that supports these important standards, while making BasicScript easy to
integrate and affordable to license, we are fast approaching our goal of
making BasicScript the most widely deployed macro language in the
industry."
