Bender & Associates Announces SoftTest for Windows at Software Development
Conference

March 14, 1994, Software Development Conference, San Jose, CA--Bender &
Associates today announced that SoftTest, the company's functional test
case design tool, is available on the Windows platform. Since SoftTest is
a functional tool, it can be used to test any type of application, written
in any language, and run on any platform.

Targeted toward software testers, SoftTest for Windows includes all of the
exceptional features and benefits of the original DOS-based SoftTest but
is now able to take advantage of the features available within the Windows
environment as well. Enhancements include ease of use, dramatically
increased system limits to allow processing of much larger functions, and
improved viewing and reporting capabilities. "The DOS version of SoftTest
has drastically reduced the number of test cases we need to assure proper
coverage of code and has given me a 4 to 1 ratio in reduction time,"
states Lucie Schmidtmann, System Tester at AT&T Bell Laboratories. "We're
really looking forward to incorporating the Windows version as well."

When used throughout the software development life cycle, SoftTest helps
developers significantly increase the effectiveness and efficiency of
their test efforts. SoftTest allows the user to integrate testing
throughout the development cycle as opposed to testing at the end.
Traditional code based testing (testing at the end of the cycle) often
creates numerous redundant tests that only exercise a minor portion of the
code (3050%). Conversely, test cases designed with SoftTest eliminate test
case redundancy. Developed using the same algorithms that engineers use to
test hardware logic circuits, SoftTest is the only tool available that
utilizes this mathematically rigorous technique for designing and
evaluating software test cases.

And because the algorithms are built-in, SoftTest users do not need an
engineering background. Finally, since test cases designed by SoftTest are
based on the description of the system's functional requirements, 100% of
the system's requirements are verified, while typically exercising 80-90%
of the code!

"Bender & Associates' goal is to offer products and services that are
geared towards the development of total quality systems. We understand the
business perspective, so all of our tools and techniques are designed to
increase the bottom line return on investment," states Richard Bender,
President of Bender & Associates. "By expanding SoftTest from DOS to
Windows, many more companies will be able to improve their software
development cycles by using SoftTest. Our solution improves product
quality, shortens development schedules through parallel testing, and
reduces total project resources by minimizing scrap and rework."

SoftTest for Windows will be shipping 2nd quarter 1994 with a list price of
$2,500. Registered owners under maintenance of SoftTest for DOS will be
upgraded to the Windows version free of charge. Other registered owners
can upgrade for $500. Both versions of SoftTest are available direct from
Bender & Associates.

Technical Specifications: SoftTest for Windows requires Windows version 3.1
and above, with a minimum of 4MB RAM and 2MB free disk space.

SoftTest for Windows will be on display at the Software Development
Conference in San Jose, March 14-18, 1994. Interested users and industry
press are encouraged to stop by Booth #1544 at the San Jose Convention
Center to view demonstrations.
