STRATEGEMS OFFERS MARKET RESEARCH, USABILITY TESTING, SURVEY DESIGN

Loveland, Colorado, March 14, 1994 -- Strategems offers the high-tech
industry a unique combination of qualitative and quantitative research
skills to help high-tech companies develop hardware and software products
that are easy to use.

Founded by Dr. Cheryl Flink in 1991, Strategems serves an international
clientele, focusing on comprehensive product development research, from
product conception to release.

Dr. Flink, who holds a Ph.D. in social psychology from the University of
Colorado, integrates human factors skills with market research methodology
and statistical techniques to improve hardware, software and
documentation. After serving as a contract human factors engineer for the
Hewlett-Packard Co. site in Greeley, Colorado, Dr. Flink founded
Strategems to bring her research skills to a wider range of clients.

"Strategems is interested in building long-term relationships with clients
that span the product lifecycle," says Dr. Flink. "Rather than doing
one-shot testing, we prefer to guide development teams through the
lifecycle with carefully planned research methodology that targets their
end users."

Strategems recommends that companies devote much of their resources to the
product definition and early design phases.

"Unsuccessful products are nearly always poorly defined," says Dr. Flink.
"Teams that develop successful products have a clear idea of who their
user is and they talk to those users before function and features are
implemented."

Strategems offers not only usability testing, but a variety of research
methods appropriate to different development stages. During the
investigation phase, Strategems uses both traditional market research such
as nationwide focus groups, and human factors methods such as tack
analysis. This approach defines such issues as whether a product concept
fits a particular market, what features are required, and what platforms
are necessary. During the development phase, Strategems conducts usabilty
testing, employing methods such as rapid prototyping and cognitive
walk-throughs to design a user-center product. After release, Strategems
designs customer satisfaction surveys and conducts on-site visits to
determine how the product works in the customer's environment, and what
improvements can be made to future revisions.

"Focusing on user-centered design yields tremendous benefits for high-tech
companies," says Dr. Flink, "including reduced development costs, shorter
time to market, reduced customer service calls, increased sales, and
optimal on-line documentation and manuals."

In addition to market research, usability testing and survey design,
Strategems offers courses on usability testing and survey design, as well
as development of usability championship teams.
