TerraLogics Introduces First OLE 2.0 Tool Designed for Embedding Maps in
Applications

Software Development Conference, San Jose, Calif., March 15, 1994 -- For
the first time, developers of virtually any off-the-shelf software, such
as database, presentation, desktop publishing and spreadsheet applications
can easily add mapping/data visualization capabilities using a new OLE
2.0-compatible product introduced today by TerraLogics, Inc. of Lowell,
Mass.

Called G'OLE -- for Geographic Object Linking and Embedding -- this new
development tool marks the first time that mapping functions can be
integrated and delivered as an OLE 2.0 server. G'OLE is available
immediately.

Using G'OLE, an embedded map "object" can be integrated as part of another
software package, allowing end users to visualize their data on colorful
maps and perform geographic analysis functions at the click of a single
button.

G'OLE is the newest addition to TerraLogics' flagship product, the
TerraView Software Development Kit (SDK). TerraView includes a C-language
subroutine library and a variety of optional modules and utilities that
contain all the functions for developing and embedding maps in
applications. It enables geographic maps to be embedded directly into the
source code of applications developed in Windows, Mac, UNIX or other
environments. Because TerraView is modular, developers can purchase the
base toolkit and only the tools needed for a particular application.

G'OLE can be used to create very simple presentations, such as company
sales performance by territory, or display more sophisticated
relationships such as demographic and product sales trends.

A key advantage of embedding mapping into an application via G'OLE is that
information can be viewed geographically without exporting it to a
separate application. Before today, most users needed a dedicated mapping
software program to view their data.

G'OLE is intended to expand the use of geographic data visualization by
integrating mapping and spatial analysis features into widely used "shrink
wrapped" applications. These mapping features have been previously
available only in dedicated desktop mapping tools

Matthew Goldworm, president and CEO of TerraLogics says, " The TerraView
SDK provides the capability for full custom embedded mapping development.
The G'OLE server, delivered as source code, not only gives the developer a
highly functional mapping server, but allows a full spectrum of
application-specific functionality."

A significant number of software manufacturers, including the leader in
standalone mapping applications announced support for G'OLE.

Steve Poizner, president of Strategic Mapping, Inc. said, "We intend to
support links between TerraView and our Atlas line of desktop mapping
software and tools, and to provide data that can be readily accessed by
applications which use G'OLE. We believe G'OLE is complementary to our
mapping software and tools because it provides simple visualization
capabilities to a wide audience of endusers."

Pricing and Availability

TerraView with G'OLE is currently shipping for delivery immediately.
Pricing varies depending on the modules selected from the TerraView SDK.
