Phar Lap announces new Phar Lap FrontRunner, a better DOS desktop for
Windows

Cambridge, MA (March 15, 1994)--Phar Lap Software, Inc. today announced the
upcoming release of Phar Lap FrontRunner, a new Windows desktop that
brings powerful Windows features to your DOS shell and a better DOS box to
Windows. Designed to help PC users who need to run both Windows and DOS
applications, FrontRunner is the first Windows utility to truly integrate
these two work environments.

FrontRunner includes a highly intuitive, productive DOS work environment
integrated into a Windows shell that lets you run Windows programs
directly from the DOS prompt, scroll and view your entire DOS screen
history, and copy, paste, and print any part of your DOS session.
FrontRunner also provides a simple alternative to Program Manager that
lets you run programs from a customizable Launch Bar or from a convenient
run menu. Additional features such as a powerful programmable real time
Status Bar, new GUI Visual Batch Language Extensions for DOS, and other
utilities make this an extremely versatile and unique product.

"We developed FrontRunner in order to meet the needs of many developers and
power Windows users who require a flexible work environment that allows
them to quickly and easily move between Windows and DOS," said John
Benfatto, Vice President of Phar Lap Software, Inc. "We took advantage of
Phar Lap's extensive knowledge of DOS to bring new functionality to a
Windows shell."

With FrontRunner, Windows users can scroll to view their DOS screen history
making a more versatile and user-friendly DOS box. In addition, the
ability to quickly and easily copy, paste, and print any part of a DOS
session and to run Windows programs from the command line enables users to
work with DOS and Windows in a totally new way.

"Phar Lap has brought to Windows a unique and powerful combination DOS box
replacement and Windows command shell. I've been using it for six months
and it's my Windows shell of choice," said Andrew Schulman, co-author of
the books Undocumented DOS and Undocumented Windows. "Programmers and
power users alike will appreciate its programmability, including Phar
Lap's new Visual Batch Language for DOS."

For Windows users who have been frustrated with sorting through Program
Manager's groups and items and getting a screen full of real estate
problems, FrontRunner provides a simplified run menu and Launch Bar. The
Launch Bar lets you keep your favorite Windows and DOS applications
available at a click

FrontRunner also provides programmability for users who would like to
customize their work environment. Phar Lap's new Visual Batch Language
Extensions for DOS let users create easy-to-use visual front ends for
their DOS batch files. And because the real-time Status Bar is also
programmable, users can create their own modules that keep track of
whatever real-time information is important to them, such as displaying
up-to-date currency exchange rates, manufacturing processes, or current
stock prices.

Phar Lap Software, founded in 1986, is also the developer of the
award-winning TNT DOS-Extender (formerly 386|DOS-Extender) and
286|DOS-Extender. Phar Lap's DOS-Extenders have been used to build over
1500 32-bit protected mode applications, including Microsoft's Visual C++,
FoxPro 2.5 for MS-DOS, Autodesk's AutoCAD 386, and Access Software's LINKS
386 Pro.

Phar Lap FrontRunner will be available from Phar Lap in the next few weeks
at a list price of $139. Free demo disks are currently available by
