WATCOM INTRODUCES WATCOM C/C++ VERSION 10.0

New Multi-Platform GUI Integrated Development Environment Simplifies and
Accelerates Application Development

San Jose, Calif., March 15, 1994 -- WATCOM International, a subsidiary of
Powersoft Corp. (NASDAQ:PWRS), today announced WATCOM C/C++ version 10.0,
a C/C++ compiler and development tools package that simplifies and
accelerates the development of high-performance, multi-platform
applications. WATCOM C/C++ 10.0 builds on the powerful capabilities of
version 9.5 by delivering a Graphical User Interface (GUI) Integrated
Development Environment (IDE) designed to ease and shorten the effort
required to develop both character and GUI applications on a wide variety
of platforms.

WATCOM C/C++ 10.0's new, GUI IDE meets the needs of professional developers
with a comprehensive suite of multi-platform, graphical development tools.
New in this release are a C++ class browser, advanced GUI debugger, text
editor and profiler. Version 10.0 also includes Windows resource editing
tools for icons, bitmaps, dialogs and menus, and a number of Windows
debugging utilities such as Spy, Heapwalker and Dr. WATCOM.

WATCOM C/C++ 10.0 provides significantly faster compile speeds through the
use of pre-compiled headers, and also provides improved C++ optimization
technology, such as tail recursion elimination and floating point
scheduling. The C++ implementation closely follows the American National
Standards Institute (ANSI) draft standard which provides comprehensive
support for the current AT&T version 3.0 language and features templates
and exception handling to exploit the benefits of object-oriented
programming such as code reusability, increased reliability and reduced
maintenance.

WATCOM's cross-platform capabilities enable the development of programs for
a wide variety of target environments from any of several supported host
systems. Thus developers can standardize on a single host environment and
toolset for application development across a wide range of target systems.
WATCOM C/C++'s multi-platform target support includes 16-bit DOS, Windows
3.x, OS/2 1.x, 32-bit DOS (with DOS extenders), OS/2 2.x, Windows NT,
Win32s, 32-bit Windows 3.x (with WATCOM's 32-bit Windows extender) and
NetWare NLMs. With version 10.0, WATCOM C/C++ now includes 16-bit and
32-bit tools in one package.

Version 10.0's multiple target support allows the IDE to handle
sophisticated, real-world applications that consist of executables,
dynamic link libraries and other objects. The IDE is hosted on Windows
3.1, OS/2 and Windows NT with a consistent user interface across all
platforms that streamlines every stage of application development from
writing and compiling to debugging and profiling.

WATCOM C/C++ supports key emerging and defacto standards, including the
Microsoft Foundation Class library (MFC) and Object Linking and Embedding
(OLE) specifications, and IBM's System Object Model (SOM) and Distributed
System Object Model (DSOM) technology.

Pricing and Availability

WATCOM C/C++ has a suggested retail price of $599.* The
limited-availability version of the product will ship later this month;
the general-availability version will ship within 60 days. Upgrades from
WATCOM C/C++32 version 9.5 and WATCOM C/C++16 version 9.5 are available
directly from WATCOM for $149 (US).

Headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, WATCOM International Corp., a wholly
owned subsidiary of Powersoft Corp. (NASDAQ:PWRS), is a leading provider
of application development tools. WATCOM has established itself as an
industry-leader in optimizing compiler technology for Intel-based PCs with
its WATCOM C/C++ products. WATCOM introduced its PC-based client/server
SQL database servers in 1992, providing the first SQL database servers
which deliver the simplicity, openness, scalability and cost effectiveness
required for the PC marketplace.
