POWERSOFT ANNOUNCES NEW SCALABLE PRICING STRATEGY

Accelerate '94 Targets Expanding Client/Server Development Market

BURLINGTON, Mass., Feb. 14, 1994--Powersoft Corporation today announced a
pricing strategy which enables organizations to implement scalable
client/server solutions in phases, and offers the first true client/server
tool for desktop developers. This pricing announcement is part of the
company's Accelerate '94 initiative to make the client/server platform
more broadly available to all levels of developers.

Tom Herring, vice president of marketing and business development at
Powersoft, commented: "We designed the Accelerate '94 product and pricing
strategy in support of the two primary entry points to client/server
application development. PowerBuilder Enterprise, installed at 3,500 sites
worldwide, is used by IS developers accessing high-end databases to
develop and deploy applications for the entire organization. Our new
product, PowerBuilder Desktop, is intended for professional developers
building applications for individuals or workgroups. This pricing
structure makes it cost- and resource-effective for companies to begin
using client/server at the level that makes the most sense based on their
specific requirements."

Powersoft unveiled its pricing strategy, and the new desktop entry-level
price point, in conjunction with its announcement of PowerBuilder Desktop.
The product, offered at a suggested retail price (SRP) of $695,* is
available at the introductory price of $249 for a single-user copy through
May 31, 1994. It includes:

* Standalone WATCOM SQL for Windows relational database
* The ability to develop PowerBuilder Desktop applications
that allow connectivity to WATCOM SQL and/or desktop databases
and files such as dBASE, Paradox, FoxPro, and Btrieve, and
  ASCII-compliant text files
* A new Powersoft Infobase CD-ROM containing all PowerBuilder
documentation, technical product information, product tips
  and techniques

In addition to the above, Powersoft offers an array of capability-enhancing
tools and upgrade options for PowerBuilder Desktop.

For organizations that want to scale client/server development from
personal applications to multiuser workgroup applications, companies using
PowerBuilder Desktop can purchase the PowerBuilder Team/ODBC kit. The kit,
priced at $695, includes:

* Full ODBC support that allows users to extend their reach
  to server databases
* An open library API that allows access to PowerBuilder object
libraries by other programs such as CASE tools, version control
  systems, and automated testing tools
* Version control interfaces

The PowerBuilder Enhanced Database Kit is priced at $1,595 for developers
who want to build and deploy applications using enterprise-class databases
and who have both PowerBuilder Desktop and the PowerBuilder Team/ODBC kit.
This includes high-performance native drivers which access the most
popular server databases such as Oracle, Sybase, Informix and DB2.

PowerBuilder Enterprise is priced at $3,395 for organizations that want to
leverage the enterprise-wide benefits of the client/server platform
immediately. PowerBuilder Enterprise includes the three components above
-- PowerBuilder Desktop, the PowerBuilder Team/ODBC Kit, and the
PowerBuilder Enhanced Database Kit, as well as:

* PowerBuilder Developer Toolkit -- A collection of tools for
the development, documentation, and maintenance of PowerBuilder
  applications
* PowerBuilder Application Library -- A collection of
pre-optimized objects, windows and functions that allow
faster and easier development of PowerBuilder applications
* WATCOM Image Editor -- Allows developers to create and edit
Windows resource files such as bitmaps, icons and cursors

Current PowerBuilder Enterprise customers who hold upgrade subscriptions
will receive these additional features at no charge.

Powersoft's Accelerate '94 pricing initiative also includes a continuation
of the promotional pricing for its end user products:

* PowerViewer, a client/server information access tool used to create
queries, reports and business graphs that access local and enterprise
data. PowerViewer continues to be available
