MorrisNet/2!

"We're Not The Biggest, and We Like it That Way!"

Think about it... do you want all the hassles of the largest BBS
Network? A nodelist larger than most commercial programs? Thousands
of echos that nobody participates in? Tyrranical moderators? Long
Distance charges out the WaZOO? MorrisNet/2 is what you're looking
for. Connectivity you can deal with, and your users will appreciate.

MorrisNet/2! is a Free Network for all interested Sysops, running
off the FidoNet protocol. We currently offer many services, all for
Free, and other services are planned for the near future. MorrisNet/2!
is sponsored by the Morris County BBS User's Group (MCBUG), a nonprofit
group of BBS Users and Sysops in the Morris County, New Jersey, area.

While MorrisNet/2! is run by MCBUG and is based in Morris County,
New Jersey, we welcome and encourage BBSes from other areas of the
United States and the world.

NETWORK SPECIFICATIONS:

Description:

MorrisNet/2! is a BBS Network offering networked Messages, Files,
Netmail, Gateways, and Barren Realms Elite games.

Network Connect Methods:

* FidoNet Protocol
     	- Nodelist (Distributed In Raw Form, Compiled By Sysops)
	- Netmail Zone Mail Hour (Same as FidoNet, so as not
	  to load a system down with mail hours.)
	- Front-End Mailer Required for Particpation
        * This Method Guarantees ALL Services are Available to Your
	  System

* QWK-Connect:
	- Alternative Method of Network Connection
	- Requires QWK Compatible BBS System & Special Conversion Program
	- Offers ONLY Networked Message Conferences
        	* No NETMAIL
		* No GATEWAYS
		* No GOFER Possible
		* No Internet (When It Becomes Available)
		* No Official Node Number
		* No BRE Possible
	- Does Not Require FidoNet Compatibility or Front-End Mailer
        - We do not currently use QWK Networking Software.

  This Method Requires You Manually (or through a script/batch file) call
  a QWK Host and download a QWK packet, which you convert and upload to
  your BBS locally. You then D/l a QWK packet from your BBS and convert
  it to be uploaded to a QWK Host.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN MORRISNET/2:

* FidoStyle Connects:

  This Method of Connecting gives you a Node Number, and a Full
  Connection to MorrisNet/2. This is what the Network was Intended
  For, and All the Services are geared towards this type of Connection.

  You Need:

          * FidoNet Compatible BBS, Or 3rd Party Program (FidoPCB, etc.)
          * Availability During Zone Mail Hour. All Times are Standard.
            Daylight Savings is not observed.
           (1am-2am Pacific Standard, 2am-3am Central, 3am-4am Mountain,
           4am-5am Eastern.  11PM - Midnight Hawaii.)
	+ * Front-End Mailer (BinkleyTerm, Front Door, etc.)
	+ * Nodelist Compiler (QNode, XLAXNode, etc.)
	+ * Gofer DFREQ Door (for Gofer participation)
	+ * Barren Realms Elite Door (for BRE participation)

 (MorrisNet/2! Can Provide You With Software That Covers The Categories
  Marked With a "+".)

* QWK-Connects

  This Method of Connecting gives you only the Networked Message Areas.
  Since you are Not a FidoStyle Node, you do not receive a Node Number,
  and you also Cannot take part in ANY of the Services offered, since
  they require Netmail access, which QWK-Connects do not provide.

  This is a good method for those who do not wish to set up a FidoStyle
  Node, or do not wish to setup the Software to do so.

  You Need:

	  * A QWK Compatible BBS (or QWK Mail Door) That Supports
	    QWK Networking.
	  * A Method Of Connecting to A MorrisNet/2! QWK Hub, Which
            Will Provide a Special Account for You To Upload & Download
            Your Net-QWK Packets.
	+ * A Special Conversion Program, Which Will Convert The
            HOST.QWK Packets to YOURBBS.REP packets, and YOURBBS.QWK
	    packets to HOST.REP packets.

  (MorrisNet/2! Can Provide You With Software That Covers The Categories
   Marked With a "+".)

  MorrisNet/2! will Give You A Free Account on a MorrisNet/2! QWK Hub
  BBS, and Give That Account "Net-Status" so you can upload and Download
  Network QWK Packets. A Script File On Your Terminal program Will
  Automate the Uploading and Downloading Nicely, and Batch Files can
  Be Provided for the Conversion Program.
