June 23, 1992 - Stamford, CT -- Software Corporation of America (SCA) today
announced that it has been named an IBM Cooperative Programs Business
Partner (CSP). As a CSP, IBM recognizes SCA as a strategic vendor in
providing solutions to the IBM customer base. IBM and SCA will jointly
market TalkThru for OS/2, an OS/2 32-bit, asynchronous communications
product developed by SCA. With this announcement, SCA becomes one of IBM's
first OS/2 32-bit Business Partners.

TalkThru provides asynchronous Terminal Emulation for over 20 terminal
types including IBM 3101 and DEC VT-100 through 320, as well as DEC VT340
graphics, and the more sophisticated Hewlett-Packard, Wyse, Tektronix and
TeleVideo terminal protocols. It also provides File Transfer for IBM's
IND$file, X, Y and ZMODEM and Kermit.

"We're delighted with the working relationship between SCA and IBM," said
John Soyring, Director of IBM's Personal Systems software development
programs. "Communications support for OS/2 Version 2. 0 is one of our top
objectives. With the availability of SCA's TalkThru, OS/2 users can now
enjoy the benefits of 32-bit asynchronous terminal emulation. "

SCA, a leading provider of communications software for OS/2, Windows and
DOS enters into this alliance with great enthusiasm. "IBM approached us 2
years ago and asked us to develop a rich asynchronous communications
product that would let customers with one workstation, integrate
applications on hardware platforms from Hewlett-Packard, DEC as well as
IBM. We gathered more specific requirements by asking key IBM accounts
what they wanted to see in an OS/2 asynchronous communications product
This is why TalkThru has been so well received and is considered strategic
by IBM and our customers," says Shirley Eis, President of SCA.

"The TalkThru emulation package met the necessary requirements to ensure a
smooth migration to a new OS/2 based client/server environment': says a
spokesperson at Ford Credit. The marketing and customer support personnel
of SCA played an important role in providing the critical deliverables to
meet an aggressive launch schedule. SCA continues to be a cooperative and
effective business partner for Ford Credit during the migration to the
OS/2 system platform," the Ford spokesperson went on to say.

All communications functionality is provided through SCA's IBM EHLLAPI
interface. TalkThru is the only asynchronous OS/2 communications product
to provide an EHLLAPI interface. "TalkThru for OS/2 marries asynchronous
and 3270/5250 connectivity under a common interface, permitting
communications applications to be developed once for either or both
arenas, regardless if you are using REXX EASEL, C, or other development
languages, "says Austin Donaghy, SCA Director of Development. TalkThru for
OS/2 provides all of this functionality through the Communications Port,
through IBM's TCP/IP, ACDI, LANACS and the OS/2 LAN Server. OS/2 Extended
Services is not required for TalkThru operation.

TalkThru's scripting language called AUTOPILOT can automate asynchronous as
well as Communications Manager sessions. AUTOPILOT runs in interpretive
mode for rapid development of prototypes, and in compiled mode for faster
execution and encrypted distribution.

An additional feature of TalkThru is The Dialog Generator, a utility which
is a WYSIWYG facility for developing System Application
Architecture/Common User Access (SAA/CUA) applications.

TalkThru for OS/2 can be ordered through IBM, SCA or through dealer
channels. TalkThru's OS/2 Text Emulation sells for $190.00 per copy and
TalkThru's OS/2 Graphical Emulation sells for $350.00 per copy. Volume
purchase discounts are available.
