Palo Alto, CA, May 18, 1992 -- Micro Focus Enterprise systems developers
can now bring the power of the PC to their IMS production environments
following the release of the Micro Focus IMS Production Option Version
2.5.

Micro Focus has previously brought mainframe programmers the advantages of
PC-based IMS programming by offering an IMS development Option for COBOL
Workbench. With the addition of the IMS Production Option, IMS
applications can now be targeted to the PC environment for production, or
can be more thoroughly tested by end-users during application development.
In either case, this package allows IMS sites to use low-cost, powerful
PCs as testing/production systems while maintaining current investments in
IMS applications and reducing mainframe access charges.

The Micro Focus IMS Production Option Version 2.5 is a complete software
package that supports IMS transactions as well as IMS and COBOL batch
applications. It can operate on individual workstations or on a network
server and provides:

. DB/DC Emulation (Through a simple command-line entry)
. Shared MFS, DBD, PSB, Transaction and Device definitions
. Read-only and update database sharing
. Database record-level locking with dynamic roll-back and
  roll-forward recovery

The IMS Production Option can be run under DOS, OS/2 or Microsoft Windows.
It supports IBM's Database Manager as well as the XDB Server from XDB
Systems, Inc., and can be used in conjunction with the Micro Focus CICS
Production Option for CICS DLl transactions.

Version 2.5 of the IMS Production Option is currently available directly
from Micro Focus.

Micro Focus is the leading developer of COBOL compilers and programmer
