HOPKINTON, MA--June 23, 1992: Legacy Storage Systems Inc. is pleased to
announce the release of the Legacy 4000D: a high performance DAT
backup/archival external subsystem for the IBM, Compaq and Macintosh
computers.

The Legacy 4000D is an external SCSI tape subsystem which can attain up to
4Gb of storage on a standard 90 meter data cassette. With a quick 60
second average file access time and data transfer rates approaching 22
Mb/minute, the Legacy 4000D is ideal for the most demanding LAN
installations.

The Legacy 4000D can be used in both DDS and DDS-DC data compression
formats and is thus fully compatible with the formerly released Legacy
2200D: Legacy's 2.0 Gb DDS/DAT device.

John Whyte, vice president of technology and development commented, "The
release of the Legacy 4000D reiterates our commitment to not only meet the
growing capacity requirements of today's LANs, but to also keep
performance at the same levels."

The Legacy 4000D's features include tension control mechanisms, precise
tape-handling even under power loss conditions, a four-head self-cleaning
drum, direct-drive reel motors and an independent capstan motor.

The Legacy 2200D is compatible with NetWare, Unix/Xenix and OS/2.
Production units will commence shipping in September 1992 with a suggested
list of US$3,295. Please contact Legacy Storage Systems Inc. directly at
