NEW YORK, June 23, 1992 -- The industry's first color scanner which is
fully compliant with the new SCSI-2 standard has been introduced by Sharp
Electronics Corporation.

The JX-320, a high-quality color scanner for business applications such as
reports and proposals, is also the first in its class of business scanners
to offer a transparency option which transforms it into a professional
level scanner. With a scanning area of 8 1/2" x 11", it can handle
anything from 35mm slides to glossy photographs, making it well-suited for
business presentations.

Sharp's patented one-pass scanning system allows the JX-320 to reduce scan
time while providing high-quality 24-bit color. The unit also outputs
256-level grayscale and black-and-white images with full control over
threshold, brightness and color gamma correction.

"The JX-320 is designed for various business applications and marks a
number of firsts for a scanner in its class," says Andrew Bernstein,
senior product manager, Copier and Imaging Systems Division. "This is good
news for most users, because the JX-320 combines many different features
which make scanning images for a host of business uses easier than ever."

Scanning at a true 300 dots-per-inch (dpi), resolution can be increased
through interpolation up to 600 dpi to allow users to attain enough detail
for professional results.

Adapting to changing computer environments is easy with the JX-320's
modular interface slot, which lets the unit connect as a GPIB or SCSI-2
scanner. Also available is a direct print option which, when used in
conjunction with the Sharp JX-730 or JX-735 color inkjet printers,
transforms the JX-320 into a low-cost color copier.

While in the color copy mode, the control panel on the JX-320 allows the
user to independently make adjustments such as brightness and scaling.
Edge emphasis, lightness, brightness and gamma correction controls are
standard. Any image can be enhanced with these built-in controls.
