Montreal, Canada--June 23, 1992--Eicon Technology Corporation enhances its
Access for DOS product line, providing users with a wider variety of
connectivity options and improved administrative capabilities. Access for
DOS consists of 3270, 5250 and VT220 terminal and printer emulation
packages for standalone or LAN-based workstations running DOS.

Support for Industry Standard Platforms

Access for DOS is workstation-resident software. A workstation running
Access for DOS (3270) can connect to an IBM host and establish up to 9
simultaneous display and/or printer sessions across different SNA
platforms:

* Eicon Technology SNA Gateway
* IBM direct Token-Ring
* IBM NetBIOS gateway
  (IBM PC 3270 Emulation Program V3.00 - 3.05)
* IBM DFT Coax

Ease of Use

The product setup/configuration user interface for Access for DOS has been
enhanced to provide a more intuitive, easy-to-use set of configuration and
administrative utilities. The interface for the Calling Directory, which
stores information necessary for establishing a host connection, has been
enhanced as well.

"Eicon Technology is fully committed to the DOS operating system, as well
as to its users. Access for DOS Release 1.10 confirms our commitment to
addressing the DOS community's requirements for a wide variety of
connectivity options, for easier-to-use applications, for a more intuitive
flow of applications (from the keystrokes available for processing, to the
sequence of configuration menus), and for improved and flexible memory
management," says Mark Denny, Product Line Manager, SNA Group. "Plans are
already underway for a follow-up release to present users with a Windows
'look and feel' to the product, identical to that found in our Access for
Windows product line.

Modular Approach to Memory

The Access for DOS architecture now enables users to customize the use of
the PC's memory. The newly designed emulations are made up of modularized
features that can be kept in conventional memory, accessed from either
expanded or extended memory, or even swapped to and from the hard disk.

Users have control over how much memory they allocate to the program. For
example, Access for DOS provides them with the ability to change their
emulation type to suit their application needs. They can choose features
such as 3270 Display only, 3270 Display with Graphics, etc., or none of
these. This way, they use only as much of their PC's memory as is
necessary.
