CLARIS ANNOUNCES AGGRESSIVE MARKETING LAUNCH INTO WINDOWS

Software firm plans more Windows products to follow FileMaker Pro 2.0

SANTA CLARA, CA -- June 8,1992 -- With today's announcement of FileMaker
Pro 2.0 software for Windows and Macintosh, Claris Corporation also
revealed plans for its most aggressive marketing campaign ever. Designed
to launch Claris as a mainstream Windows software vendor, the campaign
includes the firm's most extensive advertising effort, and extensive
channel marketing programs with Ingram Micro, the world's largest software
distributor.

Claris -- the software subsidiary of Apple Computer, Inc. -- is the
second-largest worldwide supplier of software for the Apple Macintosh,
where it is well-known for its family of powerful and easy-to-use
products. To spread the news about its new Windows products to the broader
world of IBM PC and compatible users, Claris will start its biggest ad
campaign ever at PC Expo this month. The campaign will kick into high gear
when the new products ship this fall.

The FileMaker Pro 2.0 ads will reach a very large audience through a
strategic mix of PC, business and general publications. The campaign is a
total departure from traditional software ads and features hard-hitting
product messages within startling visuals (see attached sample). After
indepth consumer research, the campaign was created by Claris' new
advertising agency, Livingston + Keye, which also created the famous
Alaska Airlines and California State Anti-Smoking campaigns.

Distribution giant Ingram Micro is the exclusive provider of Claris
software to U.S. resellers and is mounting an ambitious campaign to help
make FileMaker Pro for Windows a success. The new product will be
spotlighted in Ingram's telesales, direct mail and promotional marketing
efforts through the end of 1992.

"FileMaker Pro is the most exciting new software for Windows this year, and
it's going to be a very big success," said Chip Lacy, Ingram chairman and
CEO. "Claris has a tradition of creating great software and I'm sure they
will be even more successful in Windows. We're proud and excited to be
helping Claris get full access to the Windows channels."

More Claris Windows products coming

FileMaker Pro 2.0 joins Claris Hollywood, the award-winning presentations
graphics product, as the firm's second Windows application. Claris made it
clear that this is just the beginning of a family of cross-platform
software to come.

"Claris will bring superior graphical-user-interface solutions to Windows
users, and we will provide a tight-knit family of cross-platform
software," said Daniel L. Eilers, Claris president and CEO. "Personal
computing today is obviously a multi-vendor world, and most of our major
customers want cross-platform applications that will work on Windows and
Mac. We're responding now with FileMaker Pro and more crossplatform
products to come."

For example, the company said its customers have strongly requested a
Windows version of MacDraw Pro, the top-selling Mac graphics product which
is an important standard in many major corporations worldwide.

Complete Windows marketing programs

With first shipments of FileMaker Pro 2.0 this fall, Claris also will debut
newly designed packaging for its cross-platform products, with a focus on
bright, strong box images to appeal to Windows and Mac users.

Claris also recognizes the importance of working closely with value-added
resellers (VARs) and consultants able to tailor customer-specific
solutions based on Claris products. The company has a successful
consultants program for its Mac products in place, and will be
strengthening and expanding this program as it enters the Windows market.
These new U.S. programs to support consultants and VARs will be launched
later in 1992.

Claris is a worldwide leader in Macintosh and Windows software, with
headquarters in Santa Clara, CA.
