AST RESEARCH DEMONSTRATES NEW TECHNOLOGY AT PC EXPO

PC EXPO, New York, June 23, 1992 -- AST Research Inc. is exhibiting its
full range of products -- from the Premium Exec notebook PCs to its
symmetric multiprocessor -- at PC Expo in Jacob Javits center, booth #3304
today through Thursday.

Highlighting the company's engineering, design and manufacturing
capabilities is an advanced technology demonstration of AST's symmetric
multiprocessor, slated for a late summer introduction. The multiprocessor,
which incorporates mini-computer technology and performance levels, will
sell for suggested retail prices starting at under $25,000, significantly
lower than the cost of most minis.

AST's high performance Premium SE server line will be showcased, with the
Premium SE 4/33 shown running AST's implementation of RAID 5 disk array
technology operating on Novell's Netware 3.11 platform.

The Premium SE servers include a host of scalability features and offer a
complete hardware solution for local area network and multiuser
environments. The systems combine 32-bit bus mastering, EISA SCSI
controllers and industry-standard hard drives with software-based array
logic to provide new levels of disk performance on a PC platform.

AST also will feature its full line of Power Premium desktop systems
including the recently-announced Power Premium 4/25s (486SX/25MHz
technology), 3/25 (386/25MHz), 3/25s (386SX/25MHz), as well as AST's Power
Premium 4/50d (486DX2/50MHz), 4/33 (486/33MHz), and 3/33 (386/33MHz).

Key features of AST's Power Premium systems include Premium VGA integrated
high-performance video for optimum performance in Windows environments; an
EISA bus with downward ISA compatibility; AST FlashBIOS, a simplified
software BIOS upgrade; and AST's Cupid-32 upgradeability, as well as
support for Intel's chip-level upgrade technology.

AST also will display its line of Bravo 3/25s and 4/33 desktop systems that
combine feature-rich, high-performance configurations at the lowest
possible cost. Since its introduction, the Bravo family has become one of
the most popular PC systems among resellers, VARs and Fortune 1000
companies.

AST's award-winning Premium Exec 386SX/25C, 386SX/25 and 386SX/20 notebook
systems also will be displayed in AST's booth. AST established the
industry's notebook price/performance standards with its introduction of
the Premium Exec family.
