PC EXPO '92, June 22,1992 - - Alpha Systems Lab, Inc. (ASL) of Irvine,
California, today announced the introduction of a new add-on board that
greatly increases the speed and performance of Windows running on an
ISA-bus-based personal computer system, according to an announcement by
Rose Hwang, president of ASL.

The new Lightning VGA board improves the performance of VGA, SVGA and
Windows up to 300% while providing up to 32,768 colors on-screen. This
board represents the newest generation of video controller board, and
incorporates in its design Weitek's new 5186 User Interface Chip which
combines Windows acceleration and VGA compatibility in a single chip. The
5186 off-loads the computer's CPU, thus freeing the CPU from costly
graphics processing which can demand as much as 80% of a CPU's capacity.

Overall system speed is greatly increased as the 5186 accelerates Windows
graphics functions by as much as 25 times as fast.

Screen sizes up to 1024 x 768 are supported.

Software drivers include Windows 3.0 & 3.1, Autodesk (AutoCAD, AutoShade,
AutoSketch, 3D Studio) Microsoft Word for DOS, Wordperfect 5.0,
Wordperfect 5.0 w/VESA BIOS, Lotus 1-2-3 v.2.3, and GEM/Ventura Publisher
3.0 (DOS).

Suggested retail price of Lightning VGA is $350.

Availability is immediate.
